I agree. I think we have talent, some of it raw, and I think Nunziata can steer it all into remaining competitive. We are not out of any match from here on it. I hope the young players can keep away from emotional outbursts like what was outwardly seen during Cuba. The team is young, talented, Nunziata can steer the ship, but the young players might become overly emotional at times.

Just tuned into the U20 match in time to see the US add their second goal. Nice curling shot around the wall. Italy GK standing there hands out not happy with the wall. As if it wasn't his job to set it up. Boh.

    R16 Exit.

Sounds about right given the group that they brought.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned at the beginning, the team was too young for this competition. I remember that AS MANY AS 10 players can play in the next U20 World Cup in 2027, and just to make a comparison, in the team that reached the final in the last edition, THERE WERE ONLY 3 of them. Also, the older players weren’t of exceptional quality— for example, the 2005-born players were: Seghetti, decent; Corradi, at best, should have been the fourth or fifth defender; Amey, decent but injured right away and even he, in a U20 national team, would have been a substitute; Sardo, played out of position in defense and in the U19 national team probably made 1 or 2 appearances, never called up to the various category tournaments; and Okoro, who is a reserve in Juve Next Gen. Unfortunately, the clubs got in the way, and Nunziata had to call up players with VERY LITTLE professional experience. That said, it’s about time that FIFA decides to hold this competition during international breaks, because as it stands, MANY players who could have been called up were left out... Anyway, in November there’s the U17 World Cup, hopefully, it will go better there.

Actually, Benjamin Cremaschi , who scored 2 goals against Italy yesterday, is on loan to Parma through June 2026 with an option to buy.

We will now see how Azzurrini U21 fares as they have kicked off against Sweden. Looks to be a full strength lineup with perhaps Cherubini a surprise starter

Guys, many of the players in this U21 team could have been called up for the World Cup (Marco Palestra, Filippo Mane, Luca Lipani, Riyad Idrissi, Davide Bartesaghi, Tommaso Martinelli, Niccolò Fortini, Simone Pafundi, Seydou Fini, Diego Mascardi, Alphadjo Cissè, Jeff Ekhator, Francesco Camarda). THEN, if we add the list of players who are not in the U21 team but couldn’t be called up due to club commitments (all players born in 2005/2006, like Di Maggio, Harder, Rispoli, Ciammaglichella (actually injured), Sia, Anghelè, Magni, Cassa, Torriani, Vavassori, Rubino, Caprini, De Pieri, Spinacce, and THAT’S IT—otherwise there would be at least another twenty), we could have had a World Cup like the last edition. Instead, we were forced to call up 9 players born in 2007 and one born in 2008:mad:. Let’s hope that for the NEXT WORLD CUP, they decide to play during the international windows (Infantino is making Blatter look good, and that says a lot)

I have to admit, I didn’t know what to think of Baldini when he took the squad, but it looks like things are clicking. In hindsight it’s probably what this generation needed.

I feel like they have a very strong U21 team. Martinelli, Mane, Comuzzo, Kayode, Palestra, Bartesaghi, Lipani, Ndour, Pisilli, Mannini, Koleosho, Pafundi, Fini, Camarda, Ekhator.

yeah thats a super strong squad .. the squad with Kean Pellegrini Mandragora and others was pretty good but this has to be our best under 21 squad in a generation.

Dagasso from Pescara has looked quite damn good since subbing in at half.

    Very lively player.

Camarda 3 in 2. Well, personally I would have loved him to play in a world cup, not going to complain if he gets to play and produce for U21 euro
