Great to have him back. Most of the guys they are signing have impressive resumes (or at least they make them sound impressive) for this level, especially compared to some of the guys Phoenix FC signed last year. I can't help but wonder why some of them are without a club at this point in the season. I also worry Dellorusso is going after guys he has connections to rather the best players available. Then again, beggars can't be choosers.
Another camp sighting is former Philadelphia Union and Trinidad & Tobago national teamer midfielder Keon Daniel in the below photo - he is on left side with head down and the dreadlocks. He just agreed to have his contract terminated with the Union so he likely had this Arizona deal already in place. He had been an everyday starter in 2013 in central midfield but the Union overhauled its midfield for 2014 with players like US national teamer Maurice Edu and Daniel landed at the end of the bench. Matt Kassel eluded to another new signing come from Union's ranks and it looks like it is Daniel. Dellorusso may be looking for Kassel to play central midfield per his press release so Daniel may play left midfield. Hey guys, I hope you don't consider that spamming you forum, since I am talking about something that is relevant to the club in a way but obviously comes way too late. I always thought that Arizona Phoenix (optional: SC) would have been a great name. It works as a traditional American sports team name and also kind of replicates a traditional European soccer giant's name: (FC) Bayern Munich...Bayern being Bavaria, the German state and Munich being Bavaria's capital and the city the team is from. As mentioned, obviously it's too late for that, but I would just like to know if/how you guys would have liked this name?
Update with Turner, DelPiccolo and Grousis ignings: Current roster: Goalies Evan Newton (San Jose - MLS)* Jacole Turner (Atletico Madrid C - Spain) Michael D'Arrigo (University of San Diego & Tucson - PDL)* Defenders Scott Morrison (Phoenix - USL PRO)* Devon Grousis (Phoenix - USL PRO)* London Woodberry (FC Dallas - MLS)* Joseph Toby (Orlando City - USL PRO)* Tyler Ruthven (KuPS - Finland)* Kevin Cope (Michigan State & Michigan - PDL) Midfielders Matt Kassel (Philadelphia - MLS)* Daniel Antunez (Chivas USA - MLS)* Widner Saint-Cyr (Maryland)* Kadeem Dacres (Maryland - Baltimore County & Reading - PDL)* Charles Renken (Portland - MLS)* Jon Okafor (MYPA - Sweden)* Paolo DelPiccolo - M (New England - MLS)* Joey Dillon (Real Salt Lake - MLS)[on loan]* Keon Daniel (Philadelphia Union - MLS)^ Forwards Brad Stisser (Atlanta - NASL)* Brandon Swartzendruber (Dayton - USL PRO) * Bradlee Baladez - F (FC Dallas - MLS) Jonathan Top (FC Dallas - MLS) [on loan]* *: official signing ^: unofficial signing G - Newton, Turner, D'Arrigo RB - Grousis, Woodberry CB - Ruthven CB - Antunez, Cope LB - Morrison, Doby RM - DelPiccolo, Saint-Cyr DM - Okafor, Dillon AM - Kassel, Renken LM - Daniel, Dacres F - Stisser, Top S - Swatrzendruber, Baladez
I wouldn't have been opposed. A lot of people aren't too hip on the name but that's not something we had a say in. I'm just happy that there's a new group that is already doing things leaps and bounds better than the previous.
Just saw an AZ United commercial during halftime of the Fulham-Norwich City game. Great to see them getting the name out there to the right audience. Made me excited for tonight. Anyone know what time the will call and ticket windows will be open?
According to a sign up at will call on Saturday, ticket office is open at 2pm until the game ends on every match day.
