I think the coach may have just requested to add me on LinkedIn. Serves me right for checking out his profile earlier today to see if it had any insight.
Finally: http://arizonaunited.com/news.php And the reasoning behind this hiring: http://odfcnews.com/2014/03/28/arizona-united-announces-head-coach/
Nope, wasn't the coach I thought it was at all. I think I remember him, though. http://www.umterps.com/ViewArticle....B_OEM_ID=29700&ATCLID=207385948&Q_SEASON=2013
http://odfcnews.com/2014/03/28/arizona-united-announces-head-coach/ Took like four minutes to find out that's the case. He is a month and 13 days younger than Dayton coach Sid van Druenen.
Delighted they have gone with a young coach who will be energized and excited to help build the franchise
Looks like they are trying players out. 451123328606949376 is not a valid tweet id I'd be more excited if they were actually signing players, but at least things are moving in the right direction.
They have at least 2: Ex-Orlando defender Bryan Burken https://twitter.com/burken13/status/450686313277435904 @UMBCMensSoccer: Congrats Kadeem Dacres (@kdeem0891) on signing pro contract w/ @AZUnitedSC #dawg4Life @UMBCAthletics @Lot17UMBC @UMBC http://t.co/Z9wr44vqm3 https://twitter.com/umbcmenssoccer/status/451471583568465920
It looks like Michigan State center back, Kevin Cope, may be trialing with Arizona United. He was drafted in the 2nd round by the Philadelhia Union this year but did not make the team. Kevin Cope @Kevin_Cope 8h Anddddd back to AZ I go...
AZ Website now has single game and season tickets available online. Season ticket bit is a little harder to get to that the single games. You click on one of the single game ones and then click on Event Schedule at the top. I am sure there will be a better link soon
Sweet, I will be buying my tickets for the opener later today. Still might get season tickets, but I want to check out the stadium, team, gameday experience and (maybe most importantly) the drive out to Sun City, er, I mean Peoria before I make that big of a commitment.
Goalie Evan Newton (formerly with San Jose Earthquakes) is signed. Evan Newton @NewtonEvan13 Apr 3 After months of patience, I'm so blessed to announce that I've signed with Arizona United for the 2014 season! #GodIsGood #Phoenix #faith
Another name that came up today was Joseph Toby. His twitter said he has made it to AZ, but I know he only recently signed with Orlando's USLPRO squad, coming from their U23 squad. Possibly a loan deal and possibly nothing....just thought I would share.
I was told by reliable source on the twitter machine that Toby is signed to play this year for AZ. Not sure what kind of signing it was, but he is supposed to play for AZUtd this year.
It looks like center back, Tyler Ruthven, is also in Arizona. He played with New York Red Bulls, Atlanta and Harrisburg City - most recently played for teams in Sweden and Finland. Tyler Ruthven Verified account @Truthven Do more, suck less. Gamecock Alum #TeamAPS athlete. Professional footballer PHX AZ Tyler Ruthven @Truthven Apr 3 I love mornings in the desert! I do not recall a pro team having to be assembled in such a quick time frame so it is interesting to watch it evolve. I assume there are more ex-Phoenix FC players in the mix. Here is a summary of names so far: Goalies Evan Newton (San Jose - MLS) Defenders Tyler Ruthven (KuPS - Finland) Devon Grousis (Phoenix - USL PRO) Kevin Cope (Michigan State) Midfielders Joseph Toby (Orlando City - USL PRO) Kadeem Dacres (Maryland - Baltimore County) Forwards Brad Stisser (Atlanta - NASL)
I have been told that both former Battery players Cody Ellison and Jose Cuevas were set to sign with Phoenix FC so not sure if they will be joining AZU but they both would be great additions...
The new coach is definitely looking at bringing in his own players, I know that people that tried out for PFC had to try out again for AZU
