That's a good question, not sure that I'm really high on affiliation at the end of the day, I think I'd rather Red Bulls, because they need more development, whereas NYCFC is kind of in the same structure with Man City. Honestly, it doesn't matter who that much it's more of how they implement it, if we get 5 youth players for the entire season and they can work into coach D's system that's optimal.
The affiliations are great in principal, but when they chop and change the players it totally messes up the continuity in the squad. Especially since the teams seem obliged to give those on loan the playing time. I would rather AZU do what they did last year and take players from multiple clubs instead and keep them here for the majority of the season.
and now Brad has re-signed for next season too. I, for one, am happy with the 3 that have come back. Hopefully more in the coming weeks.
AZ United has signed Jose Cuevas. .@AZUnitedSC signs MF Jose Cuevas from @Chas_Battery to multi-year deal. Scored 7 G in 2012 and was named ROY. First signing outside of team— Jeff Wendt (@jwendt0908) November 12, 2014 He was rumored to be set to sign with Phoenix FC and I was surprised when AZ United didn't pick him up before he signed with Charleston. It's great to see that they are looking to improve the team.
New goalie, who I presume would press Newton and provide cover or take over if Newton were to go elsewhere.
The guy's not Kasey Keller. He was Orlando City's backup. He played for the Blues, for crying out loud.
Newton has other irons in the fire, it would take some serious falling down from what he's working on for him to come back.
I don't think it's a secret.......okay good, he posted on Facebook. He's in Germany right now, also he has moved to Tennessee with his girlfriend in the interim. Things have been moving for a while now. He's currently training with Sportfreunde Lotte.
FCD affiliation looking likely: http://www.bigdsoccer.com/2014/11/24/7276133/fc-dallas-arizona-united-usl-affiliate
This is what I was thinking for a while ... coach's of each club have a relationship and that's a big player I think in these affiliations. FCD players already playing for Arizona United this past season was a good indication too!
Indeed, in his mind this is the best option available. From the perspective of AZU, if we can keep Turner and the new guy, we'll be fine.
LFR is meeting up for the MLS Cup at FilmBar if anyone wants to join. Working on getting an AZ United player there, maybe coach. We'll be up there at noon. Cup starts at 1.
This is pretty bigtime: Welcome Home @Rob_Valentino! @OrlandoCitySC 's former captain is coming back to play for @AZUnitedSC. He is a big-time winner! #walkunited— Kyle Eng (@kyledeng) December 4, 2014
Kyle Eng was on a Sacramento podcast last night. He spoke about how impressive the Orlando and Sacramento organizations are. I have to wonder what Louisville thinks about this, the bought the organization from and affiliated with Orlando. I know it's all above board, but through Kentucky eyes it has to look like a bit of a coup
