My bigger concern is that they do not have a quality poacher or striker anymore

Falkenburg is a bum from what I have seen--3 games--unfortunately he scored so he will stay there

Benschop looked good in the half he played against IFK--but he's injured

Holman is support but not the numero uno

Johnathas is a giant but-is too young--too crude and too far away--reminds me of Ari a couple of years ago-talent wise--still in over his head--all based on last year's play

they need to get Schaars in there to replace Ortiz

Marcellis is a little wild a little sloppy but I like him so far--the defence is better than last year as both Moreno and Poulson are feeling good from the WC--and generally more sound-
-keeper is about the same--so ship Romero out fast

Again we need a striker and we will be fine this year

As much as I loved those Riddler costumes of last week with the question mark--we managed to get a sponsor

AFAS software--now I'm no expert but wasn't there a team last year or the year before who had them as their sponsor?

Sharp looking sponsor, IMHO. Those AZ kits are sharp (haven't seen the ? ones though)

I guess you refer to the old Vitesse sponsor Afab a money lending company. Afas is a business software company.
Well it doesn't matter which sponsor they take, the incoming funds are more important. With the selling of Moussa Dembele (to Fulham, 6/7 million euros) I think AZ is close to financial independence. Rumours earlier this week also linked Graziano Pellè to a move (to Chievo Verona or even Lazio). It is only a little quiet about Sergio Romero. I hope AZ will sign a decent striker, the rest of team is not bad at all. Actually I think with a little luck they can be an outsider for the championship.

  6. There was a dodgy financial service company sponsor of Vitesse if I remember correctly that has (almost?) the same acronym.

edit: whoops, I didnot see the post before this one.

    Dembele to Fulham

For my money he still does not show up for every game--some games he is just brilliant and others you start wondering where he is

he has excellent power and control when he has the ball but isn't great around the net--misses more than he should

I wish him well--he really improved the last year Van
Gaal was there but last year was a write off--and for a 22 year old that's a bad sign

    Good 2-0 UEFA win.

  9. Actually not so good, as it should have been 6 or 7 nill. Unbelievable how many chances were missed. But at least we have the UEFA points.

I think 5-0 would have made more sense

I'll say it again--in case Verbeek is reading this

    GET A STRIKER--PLEEEEASE

the build up is great and we are controling very well--we are definitely better than last year until we decide to try to put it into the net

but yesterday was the same in the second half against Gronigen-

-Holman must have missed 3 easy one timers
--Falkenberg is a at least a year away from being effective

we cannot count on Martens to be our top scorer and go anywhere---but that is what it looks like to me--he's the only one that looks dangerous and he misses his share as well

big test against PSV Sunday--should be fun--but again we need to get some goals from the front line

It's the prime time game of the weekend. I highly doubt they'd play anything else.

For U.S viewers, ESPND has: PSV-AZ, Live on Aug 22, 10.30 AM (EDT)

Fyi, this is where I usually check for scheduling:
    http://www.livesoccertv.com/channels/espn-deportes/

Pretty reliable and up-to-date ... though you might want to check it often as some channels, like ESPND, do not unveil their lineup until one or two days prior.

naturally i check for the first 20 minutes if anyone has it--I missed your post

    well they move on-

-still a week to go before the transfer deadline

Romero still has to find a home and if they are serious--they need another striker

I just read they made $16 mil euros for CL last year--even though they ended 25th of 32 clubs

that's a lot of money if your budget is only 25 mil

Ajax just walked into this kind of cash with yesterday's game--although they should give Stk about 33% for getting them there--he was the difference

I wonder how much of this money appeared before the bankruptcy--it would make a difference this year

I love our draw at the Europa today

Other than Dynamo Kiev the other 2 should not be any major problem

as long as we remember to score a goal once in a while

    we should progress

still a week before all transfers end--let's hope they make a move for a certain strker in Utrecht-

    -o.k-o.k--just dreaming

    holy cow 2 goal--and a win--that hasn't happened in a month

for any AZ fans out there--its time for them to start Johnatas at striker--he cannot be as inept as Falkenberg

and we will see when Benschopp gets back

the rest of the squad is solid but the back line is doing more scoring than the midfielder and strikers so something has to happen upfront

the only dutch team to get UEFA points --come on gang--we are rebuilding-

    -PSV choked

    Twente looked good

Ajax looked like school kids against RM--very glad DeZeeuw left AZ

I did not see Utrecht but an away tie is probably a good result
