What is the system with away tickets in MLS? I've never seen an away section in an MLS match, but I could be wrong.

Are the away clubs ever allotted tickets, say for closer matches (in my mind, Chicago and Kansas City)?
Are supporter's groups able to get tickets together?
Do clubs ever help with transportation to close away matches?

Any other details that could be provided would be much appreciated.

    Re: Away...

Most clubs actually have away sections, just not well marked or advertised. Chicago's is in 134, shown here. Generally you have to go through the home club to get tickets.

Columbus, for example, moves their visitors section seemingly every time we visit. Last match we were in the upper deck, which wasn't bad actually, but consistency would be nice.

The first time the Rapids fans made a trip to FSL they didn't really have an away section, but we worked with the FSL ticket reps to find a section that would wrok for us (W8). Since then that's been our regular section for our road trips over there.

I know there's an away section at The Dick that the Rapids ticket reps direct visiting supporters groups to.

I know KC does, it's usually in the southwest corner of the stadium.

The Galaxy lacks an away section. Even when DCU fans have tried to organize one with the club they always screw us over and scatter us around several sections.

The Sam Pierron for OnGoal did quite of bit of planning for the last trip to CHI. All we had to do was get to the Midway Hotel Center. From there he got tickets, a tailgate(including beverages), and transportation to and from the game, all for $40 bucks.

But that is that is the brilliance of having a Sam Pierron in the office.

    Often duplicated, never replicated.

When Houston's supporters groups go to Dallas we stand in section 132.

DC and NE both organize separate sections if there is a big enough away traveling party. RBNY did have a section for DC fans when they visited. From what I read here Houston also left a section for Dallas fans.

The good part is that they do reserve them a section. The weak part is, is that they banish them upstairs in the mez.

Toronto has a visitors section (104). The tickets are help back until a week or so before the game.

i wouldnt really say tornto has a away section.....hmm couple of rows thrown in the middle of a section?
yeah not a great idea, eventually when you have bad rivalries, its gg to not be good for either toronto or away supporters to not be seperated

Or at least put the away supporters, driving 7+ hours, down in the front of the section. We were up in like row 14 or something, and so we got it from all sides. Luckily we beat them, but still. I'd actually be happier with an away section that is in the middle of the Toronto supporters, they were much cooler with us than the damn regular fans...

And the Crew FO seems to be trying to figure out where to put away supporters to cause the least problems. The last couple of matches have had them in the upper decks, just in opposite corners for some reason.

yeah thats where we were both times....as for columbus

can you put us back in our corner PLEASE! that was the best place and kept us away from everything, easy in and out. the upperdeck sucks and could create too many problems as theres no direct exit.

i mentioned this not to long ago, to have mandatory away sections if your supporting the away team, this would especially work for superliga/champions cup/suda./etc games against big mexican teams, like pachuca, america, chivas. and rivalries of course. the atmosphere could really be improved

Ah, that's where that was from. It sounded familiar. I don't like Caddyshack very much. I think it's very overrated.

really, I tried to buy them 2 months before game last time :p that's not visitors section, it's couple rows in middle of home fans.

we were there because lower bowl was sold out and they forgot to leave us a section.

MLS was actually supposed to have league wide clear guidelines and rules for away groups for this year, but not suprisingly they droped the ball, that's why you can never count on them :)

    Re: Away...

Keeping to the topic ... we've had an away section for games in Chicago, NY, Denver, KC, Dallas and (next weekend) Toronto.

In only two of those places did security try and keep people out, NY and KC. Dallas we weren't concerned about. Chicago had people without tickets in our section come over and spend the entire 90 minutes watching us. I felt like we should have charged them for tickets. Toronto, we'll be in 104 amongst everyone like others have said.
Any "Funniest Movies" list without Spaceballs ... just doesn't count. ;)
