First couple of rounds of the Bundesliga season are in the books. Salzburg off to a strong start and a two-point lead. Admira is woeful so far; this might just be the year they fail to avoid relegation. Round 1 Rapid Wien 4 - 1 Admira Mödling LASK 1 - 0 Austria Wien Altach 1 - 1 Hartberg Ried 3 - 2 Tirol St. Pölten 0 - 0 Sturm Graz Wolfsberger AC 1 - 3 Salzburg Round 2 Salzburg 4 - 1 Altach Sturm Graz 1 - 1 Rapid Wien Tirol 1 - 1 LASK Admira Mödling 0 - 5 St. Pölten Hartberg 0 - 2 Wolfsberger AC Austria Wien 2 - 1 Ried
Salzburg maintains a perfect record, and Admira earns their first point. Not a whole lot of movement overall this round. Round 3 Altach 0 - 2 Tirol Ried 1 - 3 Salzburg St. Pölten 1 - 2 Rapid Wien Austria Wien 2 - 2 Admira Mödling Hartberg 1 - 1 Sturm Graz LASK 3 - 1 Wolfsberger AC
LASK and Rapid were both two points behind Salzburg and met in this round. Maybe LASK was still recovering from their impressive win at Sporting Lisbon, but they were soundly defeated. Meanwhile, Salzburg put down a beating on Hartberg to stay top the table. And Admira moved from last to 8th place with their first win. Round 4 Admira Mödling 3 - 1 Ried Tirol 0 - 2 Austria Wien Wolfsberger AC 2 - 4 St. Pölten Salzburg 7 - 1 Hartberg Sturm Graz 4 - 0 Altach Rapid Wien 3 - 0 LASK
Salzburg won at Austria to maintain a perfect record. Thanks to a last-minute penalty, Rapid kept pace two points behind. Altach earned their first win to climb off the bottom into 8th place, like Admira did last round. Incredibly, half the table only has no more than one win. Round 5 Altach 4 - 2 Admira Mödling Austria Wien 0 - 2 Salzburg Ried 0 - 2 Sturm Graz LASK 4 - 0 St. Pölten Tirol 1 - 1 Hartberg Wolfsberger AC 3 - 4 Rapid Wien
The top teams won, so not much change among the leaders. Salzburg still has a perfect record. Wolfsberger AC and Hartberg climbed from the bottom to the top of the second tier with important wins. Round 6 Hartberg 2 - 1 Austria Wien St. Pölten 4 - 0 Ried Salzburg 5 - 0 Tirol Admira Mödling 1 - 3 Wolfsberger AC Rapid Wien 3 - 1 Altach Sturm Graz 0 - 2 LASK
The big match this round featured the top two teams. The draw between Rapid and Salzburg saw the Red Bulls' perfect record broken, but they retained the top spot. LASK won big against Admira to move within one point of Rapid in third. Admira is the new bottom-dweller. The Wolfsberger AC vs Sturm Graz match had to be postponed, likely to next year, because of a major COVID outbreak at the Wolfsberg club. Eight tested positive prior to their Europa League match in Zagreb and 18 more did following that. Round 7 Rapid Wien 1 - 1 Salzburg Altach 0 - 0 Austria Wien Ried 2 - 0 Hartberg St. Pölten 0 - 1 Tirol LASK 4 - 0 Admira Mödling
Salzburg suffered a first defeat, but so did Rapid. And LASK only earned one point. So Salzburg remains first with LASK and Rapid two points behind. Round 8 Altach 0 - 2 Wolfsberger AC Hartberg 1 - 1 LASK Salzburg 1 - 3 Sturm Graz Austria Wien 1 - 1 St. Pölten Tirol 3 - 0 Admira Mödling Ried 4 - 3 Rapid Wien
Salzburg trounced St. Pölten, but LASK also won to keep pace. Rapid was held by Austria in the Vienna derby and fell two points back. Round 9 Admira Mödling 2 - 3 Hartberg St. Pölten 2 - 8 Salzburg Sturm Graz 1 - 0 Tirol LASK 3 - 0 Altach Wolfsberger AC 1 - 1 Ried Rapid Wien 1 - 1 Austria Wien
The shocker of the week was last-place Admira handing a loss to Salzburg. Chances were created but not converted, and Jesse Marsch was obviously resting players for Europe, as he took out the four most offensive players with the game scoreless and 30 minutes to go. Admira scored the game winner less than 10 minutes later, and after scoring 8 goals at neighboring St. Pölten last round, Salzburg was shut out in Südstadt. LASK won at home and took over first place in the table, one point ahead of Red Bull. And Rapid is now only one point behind them. And Altach has slipped into last place. Round 10 Admira Mödling 1 - 0 Salzburg Altach 0 - 4 St. Pölten Austria Wien 0 - 4 Sturm Graz Hartberg 1 - 3 Rapid Wien Tirol 4 - 1 Wolfsberger AC LASK 3 - 0 Ried
Big match of the round was the clash between the two league leaders. Salzburg prevailed and took back the top spot in the table. LASK is now two points back and Sturm and Rapid are two points further behind, though Sturm has a game in hand. Altach won at Ried to move back out of the relegation spot, with Admira dropping back to the bottom. Round 11 Ried 1 - 4 Altach St. Pölten 2 - 2 Hartberg Sturm Graz 3 - 0 Admira Mödling Rapid Wien 0 - 3 Tirol Wolfsberger AC 3 - 2 Austria Wien Salzburg 3 - 1 LASK
Salzburg lost their third game of the season and second at home in the matchup of the two remaining Europa League clubs. LASK missed a chance to take over the top spot with a draw at Austria. Salzburg, Sturm, LASK, and Rapid are all within one point of each other with Sturm enjoying a game in hand. At the other end, Ried jumped over Austria, which is in a surprising 10th place for the traditional heavyweight. Altach and Admira still occupy the bottom of the table. Round 12 Admira Mödling 0 - 1 Rapid Wien Hartberg 1 - 0 Altach Sturm Graz 3 - 0 St. Pölten Salzburg 2 - 3 Wolfsberger AC Tirol 1 - 3 Ried Austria Wien 1 - 1 LASK
The Bundesliga resumed with a makeup game from Round 7 that was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Wolfsberg club in November. Sturm couldn't take advantage of the game in hand to leap over Salzburg. In the current round, Salzburg and Rapid won while Sturm and LASK lost. So there's a slight gap between the top two and the next two. Admira earned a point but remains last on goal difference. Round 7 Wolfsberger AC 0 - 0 Sturm Graz Round 13 Rapid Wien 4 - 1 Sturm Graz Ried 0 - 1 Austria Wien St. Pölten 2 - 2 Admira Mödling Wolfsberger AC 0 - 0 Hartberg Altach 0 - 2 Salzburg LASK 2 - 4 Tirol
Salzburg and Rapid won twice, while Sturm and LASK won once and lost once. So the gap between the top two and the next group widened to five points. Big win for Altach, which put a two-point distance on last-place Admira. Round 14 Admira Mödling 0 - 4 Austria Wien Sturm Graz 2 - 1 Hartberg Rapid Wien 2 - 1 St. Pölten Salzburg 3 - 0 Ried Tirol 3 - 1 Altach Wolfsberger AC 0 - 3 LASK Round 15 Hartberg 0 - 3 Salzburg Altach 2 - 1 Sturm Graz Ried 0 - 0 Admira Mödling Austria Wien 2 - 2 Tirol St. Pölten 0 - 2 Wolfsberger AC LASK 1 - 2 Rapid Wien
The top four teams all won, so no change among the leaders. Admira took a huge three points against Altach to switch positions at the bottom of the table. The match between Hartberg and Tirol was postponed due to weather. Round 16 Hartberg - Tirol [ppd] Sturm Graz 2 - 1 Ried Rapid Wien 1 - 0 Wolfsberger AC Admira Mödling 3 - 1 Altach St. Pölten 1 - 3 LASK Salzburg 3 - 1 Austria Wien
Hartberg got two wins, including the postponed match from last round to move up to 7th place and within a whisker of the top half of the table. Salzburg lost to Sturm, and Rapid won its fifth straight to cut Salzburg's lead to three points. At the other end, Altach won to switch positions with Admira yet again. Round 16 Hartberg 1 - 0 Tirol Round 17 Admira Mödling 1 - 1 Tirol LASK 1 - 2 Hartberg Rapid Wien 1 - 0 Ried St. Pölten 0 - 2 Austria Wien Wolfsberger AC 0 - 1 Altach Sturm Graz 2 - 1 Salzburg
I haven't posted a Table lately, but it helps me keep up. It may be useful to someone else too. Salzburg won, while Rapid and Sturm dropped points. The lead atop the table is now 5 points. The bottom four all lost, so no change there. Only two rounds left before the table splits. Wolfsberg is in good shape, but it's really four clubs fighting for two remaining spots in the Championship group. The top four teams all won, so no change among the leaders. Tirol vaulted over Hartberg into the top half of the table. Austria's loss means they're resigned to the Relegation Group after the next round. Not where the big club wants to be... The first part of the season is complete. The big matchup this round saw Salzburg win at third-place LASK, and with Rapid only earning a draw, Salzburg's lead grew to 7 points. Tirol and Hartberg were battling for the final spot in the Championship Group, and both conceded tying goals in the 94th minute. So Tirol remained in 6th place, while Hartberg will be leading the Qualifying Group as the table is split and points are divided by two. Round 22 LASK 0 - 1 Salzburg Admira Mödling 0 - 0 Sturm Graz Altach 2 - 1 Ried Austria Wien 3 - 5 Wolfsberger AC Hartberg 3 - 3 St. Pölten Tirol 1 - 1 Rapid Wien
The table has been split into a Championship Group and a Relegation Group for the remainder of the season. Salzburg and Rapid won to maintain the lead in the Championship Group. Austria took over first in the Relegation Group from Hartberg. Admira earned an important three points and are now tied with Altach and St. Pölten on points and only one point behind Ried. Round 23 Championship Group Wolfsberger AC 1 - 8 Rapid Wien Salzburg 3 - 1 Sturm Graz Tirol 2 - 0 LASK Relegation Group Austria Wien 2 - 0 Altach St. Pölten 0 - 1 Admira Mödling Ried 3 - 2 Hartberg
Big match of the week between the two table-toppers saw Salzburg win decisively at Rapid to extend the lead to 7 points. Hartberg beat Austria to take over top of the Relegation Group. Round 24 Championship Group Rapid Wien 0 - 3 Salzburg LASK 2 - 1 Wolfsberger AC Sturm Graz 3 - 2 Tirol Relegation Group Admira Mödling 0 - 2 Ried Altach 1 - 0 St. Pölten Hartberg 1 - 0 Austria Wien
Three more rounds in the books. Salzburg earned six points, which is as good or better than everyone else in the Championship Group. With five rounds to go, Salzburg now has an 8-point lead over Rapid and 12-point lead over Sturm. Only Rapid has any chance of catching Salzburg, and that's very slim. In the Relegation Group, Austria is now tied with Hartberg on points to lead the group. St. Pölten managed just one point over the three rounds to drop into the relegation spot. Round 25 Championship Group Salzburg 2 - 0 LASK Wolfsberger AC 2 - 0 Tirol Rapid Wien 0 - 0 Sturm Graz Relegation Group Admira Mödling 0 - 1 Hartberg St. Pölten 1 - 2 Austria Wien Ried 0 - 0 Altach Round 26 Championship Group Sturm Graz 0 - 1 Wolfsberger AC Tirol 3 - 2 Salzburg LASK 1 - 1 Rapid Wien Relegation Group Altach 0 - 1 Admira Mödling Hartberg 0 - 0 St. Pölten Austria Wien 2 - 2 Ried Round 27 Championship Group Rapid Wien 4 - 0 Tirol Wolfsberger AC 1 - 2 Salzburg Sturm Graz 3 - 1 LASK Relegation Group Admira Mödling 0 - 2 Austria Wien Altach 2 - 2 Hartberg Ried 2 - 1 St. Pölten
Salzburg had a minor hick-up against WAC, but a win at Sturm put them on the brink of clinching the championship. Rapid lost at home to WAC, meaning the lead is 9 points with 3 rounds to go. Technically, Rapid holds the first tie-breaker (half-points rounded down when the table was split), but it's unlikely to come to that. Salzburg hosts Rapid in the next round, so anything other than an away win gives the Red Bulls the title. St. Pölten has now managed just 2 points in the last 5 rounds and has fallen further adrift at the bottom of the Relegation Group, now 5 points behind Admira Mödling.
