https://footballfutbolcalciosoccer.blogspot.com/2016/06/euro-2016-preview-group-f-portugal.html Can Hungary spring a surprise here? For all the plaudit the Austrians have gotten for their qualification achievements, this is a must win game for them to be taken seriously. For the vast majority of the players on show for both teams this will be a first major tournament appearance and that should see some nerves.
I'm afraid it's going to be a difficult tournament for Hungary. Just not enough quality on the team and only a handful of players with experience in top leagues. And some of the ones with that experience have found it hard to make an impact for the national team, like Szalai, Stieber and Nemeth who don't always make the starting lineup. . In fact many big moments in qualification were from domestic league players like Richard Guzmics, Akos Elek and Daniel Bode ... And inexplicably they still rely on the veterans Gabor Kiraly (40 yrs old) and Zoltan Gera (37 yrs old). They actually did fairly well defensively in qualifying, but the group flattered them because they were facing slower and uncomplicated teams like Northern Ireland, Finland and Greece ... Austria and Portugal in particular will present more speed and creativity which Hungary won't be able to deal with. If by some miracle Hungary does anything it'll most likely come from the foot of Dzsudzsak who can change a game on the dead ball like he did in Bucharest in qualifying. Probably the closest thing Hungary has to a world class player ...
There is a footy game on tonight. Who plays? Austria-Hungary. Against whom? Timing is everything when delivering jokes
Gabor Kiraly in net - good to see a middle aged dude who always looks like he just woke up from a mid-afternoon nap on the couch in net!
Gabor is an 1860 legend. I once met him during shopping and almost didnt recognize him without the sweatpants.
Side note- I once met Matthew LeTissier in the foyer of a bar/restaurant in NYC. Dude was wearing the biggest, puffiest winter coat I have ever seen. Seemed genuinely happy to be recognized, and indulged me in a 5 minute conversation about whatever upcoming tourney was approaching. Good dude.
Amazing that these two countries have met 137 previous times! To put that into perspective, England have met Germany 30 times ever. Even England v Scotland has occurred 112 times. Is Austria v Hungary the longest rivalry in football then?
Arnautovic, smh. Great skill - total prima donna. A defender can't run alongside him - he just throws himself to the ground and fakes injuries almost every single time.
