    Austria Cup

Pick Austria Wien with confidence. They will have Janocko and Ratajczik back. The Polish gives solid defence, while Janocko creates danger for 90 minutes against any other Austrian team. Austria will be changed with him compared to the weekend loss.

I rate Austria Wien almost 50% here.

    Good luck!

Welcome to Austria/Switzerland board. Are you Austrian? Sturm/GAK fan perhaps? Either way, it's good to have one more poster on here. The more the merrier...

About the semis. As an outsider I hope that anyone but Austria Wien wins the Memphis Cup. I don't think that the current situation is favorable for Austrian football at all. That and I don't want Christoph Daum to win anything else after he will most likely leave Wien at the end of the season

Daum: "I will make Austria Wien one of the top clubs in europe"

Yeah well Christoph, looks like you've discovered the limits of a team in a small country and soiled your pants. I say good ridance...

Call me ignorant, but who are the three other teams?

Yes, I am Austrian, but not from Graz. Schwarzenegger is just one of the most famous guys from here ... :)

These are the line ups for todays game:

Salzburg: Safar - Winklhofer, Szewczyk, Ch. Jank, A. Ibertsberger - Brenner, Eder, Laessig, Schriebl - Pfeifenberger, Kirchler

    No major absentees

Austria: Mandl - Ratajczyk - Dospel, Akoto - Scharner, Flögel, Panis, M. Wagner, Janocko - Rushfeldt, Gilewicz

Very strong line up. Austria will go for the double. For us, it would be better if Salzburg wins, cause of European Cup, as otherwise the winner of Kärnten/Mattersburg will play in Europe ...

Still I think that Austria will win this game, maybe covered by draw, as this is the first game they have to play something for after the title.

Rob, I am sorry but I do not understand your questions which "three" you mean ...

    Cu, Schwarzenegger

Austria Wien in the lead :)

0-1 currently and shortly after Salzburg had to clear a ball from the line ... this could be the next pick that will run in ...

Mattersburg is indeed in the second division, but with a 12-point lead and four games to go, they're pretty much guaranteed promotion.

I wouldn't count out Salzburg. They've proven pretty good at home on their new artificial surface, and they just beat Austria Wien there this weekend. Should be a large crowd as over 14,000 tickets were pre-sold in Salzburg. Austria lost their last two games, but having already sewn up the Bundesliga title, they may have been saving themselves for this match.

Yes, Mattersburg could be a good one also. Value by all means, but I have some fears for a draw ...

    Good luck anyway!

    I see...
I know I will be one of the first ones in line to see Terminator 3.
Yeah, Austria needs to do well in international play if they want to get that 2nd Champions League spot back.
So let me get your club allegiance straight. You are a "Veilchen"?

Doesn't Mattersburg have a higher avg. attendance than most if not all Bundesliga teams?

    Final: Salzburg 0 - 1 Austria Wien

The Austria Wien goal is now ruled an own goal by Eder. Corner kick was deflected and came off his head. Salzburg had two defenders sent off in the second half, and that pretty much killed their chances at a comeback. First, Winkelhofer collected his second yellow card in the 55th minute, and Szewczyk saw red in the 91st minute.

Kärnten up by two at home in the 53rd minute. Goals by Thomas Ambrosius in the 27th and 35th minutes. Looks like they'll get the European Cup spot and take on Austria Wien in the final.

Schwarzenegger, we can't even get many U.S. Open Cup games on TV here. Bundesliga LiveTicker to the rescue...

Well, it's now a final. Kärnten wins 4-0.

Apparently, the final will take place on June 1st, but the venue hasn't yet been determined--either in Vienna (Hanappi Stadium) or in Graz (Schwarzenegger Stadium). Are they gonna pick Vienna now that Austria's in the final?

I was following on livescore also. It is better than nothing.

Schwarzenegger, the only time that I can imagine a Austrian or Swiss team being shown here in the US is a National Team Game against the US, or a CL game against an Italian/Spanish team. ESPN which owns the CL rights in the US picks up the feed from those two countries. It is possible to get games on FSW, they are mostly ELP, La Liga, or German league games. There is also South American games. Almost impossible to see an Austrian or Swiss game.

That UEFA roundup says the final will be played at Schwarzenegger Stadium in Graz. Didn't want to give Austria Wien the advantage of playing in Vienna, I guess...

Oh, and the last time I saw an Austrian club on TV in the U.S. was when PSG beat Rapid Wien 1-0 in the 1996 European Cup Winners' Cup final. Also saw the Austrian national team lose 3-0 to the U.S. in Vienna right before the 1998 World Cup and Austria's three matches at that World Cup.

The last Swiss team I saw on TV was the Swiss National Team in the WC 1994. I only remember the US- Swiss game at the Silverdome. I do not think any of the Basel games were shown this year.

Playing in Graz at the Schwarzenegger Stadium, Austria Wien beat FC Kärnten in the final by a resounding score of 3-0. Austria Wien takes the double.

Seems they've been saving themselves for the Cup. They haven't scored a single goal in the five Bundesliga games since securing the title, and the only two matches they've won in that stretch were the Cup games.

I was a little shocked to see that attendance for the cup final was a meager 6,000. I realize that Austria Wien and Kärnten don't have hordes of fans, but 6,000? That is pretty lousy...
