Anything less would be an under-achievement IMO

It's pretty hard to see how we could realistically be expected to
    a) win the thing; and
    b) lose a match along the way.

Sure, we could drop a result in the first round - but, really? If we're going to lose, its going to be in the knock out stages - and then we won't win it.

Seems a pretty logical result of striving to win the Asian Cup to me

I think the important term in that title is 'strive'.

I wouldnt call it arrogant- It's what the players want to do.

As a supporter, I'm not sure it will happen, but I hope it will.

As opposed to the opposite argument, which would have to be "we aren't going to try in the Asian Cup"

I dont see how that is disrespectful, ive heard that key word, strive, used many times over the past year. Was used by a Gunner whos name escapes me when he said "we will STRIVE to improve upon our CL run". Well the only way that would be improved would have been to win the competition. Is that arrogant?

Australia have the talent to go very deep into this competition, and i would be disapointed if they werent trying to go through the Asian comp undefeated. Id imagine the other top countries in the competition would be of the same opinion. Talk about a storm in a teacup.
