A source has told me that Auston Trusty is possibly being sold to Arsenal so the club will have more GAM. Keep an eye on this. #USMNT pic.twitter.com/GZPzOqWkBr— MLS Moves (@MLSMoves) December 20, 2021 You got to love the silly season
I heard Trusty was getting interest for most of the season. I also know there are WP and loan issues at play.
this really feels like a deal with the devil for trusty. maybe more money up front but high probability of career coming to a screeching halt
In fairness, a Miazga-level career wouldn't be a bad outcome on Trusty's current trajectory. I'd be more worried about this for someone who had Miazga's potential.
I've done a 180 on Trusty. I thought his career was crumbling before this year. I was wrong. He showed a lot in 2021 and was a big part of Colorado's success. For me, he was one of the more surprising positive development stories. An athletic, left footed central defender checks boxes for a lot of people. Never discount the possibility of a late bloomer. Not everyone is a star in their teens (even if Trusty did make both a U-17 and U-20 World Cup team).
There’s never been a definitive answer on that. Rapids insiders haven’t confirmed that but have heard the sell-on % is not that high. It’s probably more in the 20% range.I guess we will see if Trusty is sold.
Like Keita a lot, and I expect he'll improve quite a bit under Fraser.I do wonder if this means the long-rumored Auston Trusty move to Europe is about to happen. Keita's a pretty natural replacement in a few ways. https://t.co/5uarPUMnpL— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) January 5, 2022
Arsenal it is: https://www.coloradorapids.com/news/colorado-rapids-transfer-auston-trusty-to-arsenal-fc Back to Colorado on loan until July 17.
The closest he'll get to having his name on the back of an Arsenal shirt is if he goes to the club shop and customizes one himself.
Trusty did have a good year in fairness and deserved a bit more attention but... ya doubt he plays for Arsenal. I think he could have a good career in Europe though
I would not be so sure to write off Trusty at Arsenal.. He may actually surprise you. He just couldn’t find his footing in Philly and came to Denver looking for a rebound and a resurgence. Fraser gave him that opportunity, trusted him, and his game took off to another level. I’ve seen it with my own eyes week in and week out. I’ve gone out on a limb as said he’s up with there with Miles Robinson. Robinson is better right now but Trusty can catch him. It may be my homer bias speaking but I truly believe that. He just needs an opportunity at a higher level. Look, I don’t know if he’ll play a game for Arsenal. I just know that given a chance, he’s going to surprise someone. Hopefully, it’s at Arsenal. If not, I hope it’s on loan somewhere.

Random read of this: KSE didn’t think much of other offers relative to their view of his value. He wants to test himself in Europe. KSE and trusty get him a raise with this, keep an asset they think has higher value than current bids indicate and on and on. Doesn’t sound like an arsenal FC specific move so much as a city group type move.
Frustration from the Arsenal fans ends up targeting Trusty: Understandable that some will be disappointed that we didn’t make replacements for outgoings this window. However, please refrain from criticizing players like Auston Trusty. Players don’t deserve abuse or vitriol because you’re upset with those in charge.— Arsenal Los Angeles (@Arsenal_LA) January 31, 2022
I get that sentiment. However, if you’ve been around the Rapids as long as I have been - 13 years - you understand and know that outside of sharing an owner and an occasional training stint in London for a few selected young players, there isn’t much of an association between the two clubs. There’s an acknowledgment of hey we’re “cousins” but that’s about it. There’s really no collaborations. It just two clubs owned by the same guy and one club - the Rapids - who are mostly ignored by Stan Kroenke. Above all, Philly is getting 30% of any transfer fee. The Rapids are getting very little from the deal even if they conjured up the scenario you presented.
Trust you morn than anything I know. But also this is the quote from rapids GM “Auston’s outstanding performances caught the eye of several European clubs over the past 12 months and we are privileged to be part of an organization with the reach and scale of KSE that allows us to help a player of Auston’s potential further his development and career aspirations in Europe.” Kind of sounds like that view of rapids/arsenal may be changing a little?
Wow I didn’t expect this. Fingers crossed it doesn’t become a Reynolds type of move once he actually does go. I had kind of written him off MNT wise once he couldn’t get playing time in Philly. Thought he would end up as a MLS lifer compared to his counterpart McKenzie who was on to Europe. Would be kind of ironic if he somehow does get playing time at Arsenal regularly while McKenzie is struggling to get time at Genk.
