all three of your fwds seem to play central strikers on their respective clubs. I can see though, Weaver with her fast legs being switched to an wing spot. Most likely spot selections; L-wing; Weaver/Williams R-wing Smith/Purce central; Balcar/Hatch I know Williams usually plays on the right for USWNT but left for club/thought Purce was an right FB, but here listed as an fwd MIDS; M-L; Macario/K Mewis M-R; Lavelle/Sanchez DM; Sullivan/Horan Horan preferably would want M-L but in case, there’s nobody to back up Sullivan
Maybe the reason Crystal Dunn is not on the list: Congrats @Cdunn19 and @Pjsoubrier! pic.twitter.com/0VUXSObY3R— Meg Linehan (@itsmeglinehan) November 11, 2021
Until such time that Sam Kerr becomes a fellow resident of the NewForest Estates assisted living facility down in the Hill Country of Texas……….Australia will remain dangerous. I will counter with………T’s transcendent beauty is that of an elegant 1950’s Movie Star.
Imani Dorsey added to the roster: INBOX: NJ/NY Gotham FC's Imani Dorsey has been added to the #USWNT roster headed to Australia at the end of the month. That brings the roster up to 23 players now— AllForXI (@AllForXI) November 15, 2021
Well… This’ll be interesting. I will be back in LA for these 2 matches will try to catch them both live.
Going into the playoff game I was looking forward to seeing Dydasco. Afterward, not so much. Just one game-- but a turnover machine game if there ever was one-- not just passes that could be intercepted, but a disquieting number directly to the wrong color jersey...
Sure-- but the question actually asked seemed to be "why Dorsey not Dydasco" and that performance suggested an answer to me. We already have a Kreuger, why add another?
The first thing that should come to mind is age. I believe now that is a key factor in the selection process.
Just picked up a bit of information on the US Soccer's attempt to get Damaris Egurrola to play for the US. It was reported that she had been called up to Spain's U-23 team camp in October, but declined because of a change in sporting nationality. Damaris' change of sporting nationality is ongoing and communication will be made in due time. We remain available for further comments.— A&V Sports (@teamavsports) November 16, 2021
Australia names their squad: https://www.matildas.com.au/news/commbank-matildas-reveal-squad-face-uswnt
I never could see the love for Dydasco. She always m The intentions of all the parties involved are bit confusing. Can you offer any more clarity?
Not sure what info you already have... Damaris Egurrola has been provisionally cap-tied by Spain & has one Sr. NT cap for Spain. She is eligible for the US, Spain & the Netherlands. Grant Wahl said there were discussions between Egurrola and the USWNT. She is a teammate of Catarina Macario. A&V appears to be her agent/management based on some previous tweets. From the tweets above, it appears she has started the one-time switch process (either putting together the paperwork or has submitted to FIFA). An additional tweet: INFO: Over the past 2 years, @damarisegu has not been called up or pre-called with #Spain national team. Damaris has been called up twice in 2021 with Spain U23. 1st (Mar) call-up was declined because of COVID, 2nd (Nov) was declined because of a change in sporting nationality.— A&V Sports (@teamavsports) November 16, 2021 So, she is switching WNTs to either the US or the Dutch (or maybe some country we don't know about). It's obvious she is leaving Spain.
Nice. Thanks. I feel like the Dutch would love to get her; they need the depth. I don't recall seeing her ever play, but would she even be good enough to play for the USWNT if the full Spanish NT hasn't called her up in 2 years?
The Spain NT can be odd in their selections, in the past they’ve rejected players like Vero, Vicky Losada, Adriana Martin & an SP league mvp named Souza even though they were all still in their prime. I think it’s cuz they want their players to go through the Barcelona club system(or at least their youth training schools) as the NT plays the similar ticky tacky tactics. I haven’t seen anything special out of Damaris at Lyon & as I’ve previously mentioned; Lyon is way too strong for its own good as they practically horde all of France’s best youth & senior players on their club while leaving the rest of the domestic league with rather sparse talent. They’ve just destroyed 2nd best, PSG, 6-1(though that club just had their own weird problems as one girl been accused of ordering a hit job on another player). Lyon should only get stronger as the season goes along as Marozsan-LeSommer-Houhaddi return as well as the previous injured Hegeberg & they keeps boasting the their going to sign Horan as well. So definitely feel Damaris will loose her starting spot sooner or later at Lyon
Damaris Egurrola would be an interesting add. Obviously we've seen players with her background on the men's side, but the USWNT has never had a US citizen by birth who primarily grew up abroad. If Europe further professionalizes the women's game (and if girls development in the US remains stagnant) we could see more players like her. As for Egurrola herself, this is a really awkward time for her to switch nationalities. I would prefer to see her for a full season at Lyon before penciling her into the USWNT's roster. For the most part Bilbao was a slightly above average team in a really poor league while Egurrola played there and Egurrola didn't play much in England, so I don't think we have enough of a track record to really judge her. However, if we wait till next summer , all the Olympic roster spots could get locked up before we have a chance to see Egurrola with the USWNT.
Yesterday Damaris Egurrola was in action vs Bayern Munich, but got injured midway in the first half & was taking out on an stretcher/hopefully it’s not the dreaded ACL, WoSoFan@ might know more about the injury she was playing an defensive/holding mid, very aggressively I might add as she picked up a yellow card right away, So I guess if she ever makes the switch, 3rd on line for DM next to Ertz & Sullivan?
