    Now with the FA Cup under our belt, the next trophy to hopefully be retained will be the FA Community Shield where we meet the old foe, "Man. Ure". It will probably be on 10th August with the season starting on the 16th.
    (Subject to FA approval). Without knowing where the first league game will be, but certainly the second fixture will be the following Tuesday or Wednesday of that week, the games come quickly during the first couple of weeks in the early part of the season. So the opportunity of seeing Arsenal a few times in a short space of time is more than likely.
    I am anticipating getting a large number of tickets for the Community Shield game which again will be at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff, and also some "away season tickets" so I should be getting tickets for every Arsenal game next year.
    Cardiff if a cool place to hang out in so if anyone is going to be in the UK during August or is thinking of it let me know. I may spend a few days down that way this time, as hopefully we might get a summer this year!
    As for requesting tickets for next season there may be a few changes in the air, but that will come out of discussions with Rick and the Club. I will post more about that later in a separate board.

    Nice idea Jeff. I'll bring this up with webmaster Andrew and the club to see what opportunities we may have.

    Do we know a date for the full schedule to be released yet? Early June last year if I remeber correctly. I was hoping to come over there in Aug or Sep and be able to catch multiple games in a short period like you mentioned. The Community Shield and a visit to Cardif would be a nice bonus.

    I'm very much hoping to catch a match at Highbury, if at all possible. I've some work to do second or third week of August, some flexibility. I caught the match at Loftus Road this past November, but had to sit amongst Fulham fans (quiet, but content with the smile on my face). If at all possible, please do let me know what can be done to score tix for a home match.

    Though I've been to the museum, giftshop, etc. recently, I haven't caught a match at Highbury since New Year's Eve 94/95 vs. QPR. I'm getting desperate.

    It would be great if some system could be worked out for ArsenalAmerica members.

    Bluto,

    There are no stupid questions. Only stupid people who ask questions.

    Kidding.

    The Community Shield prior to last year was known as the Charity Shield and is the traditional opening of the season.

    It's a friendly between the League winner and the FA Cup winner. So, this year it will be us (FA Cup) vs. Man United (League).

    When we win the Double the second place team from the League plays against the Double winner. That's why we beat Liverpool last year in this game. Gilberto scoring the goal.

    It's not massivily important or anything, but always enjoy the opportunity to beat United.

    7 Dec., ManUre 2:0 Arsenal (EPL);
    15 Feb., ManUre 0:2 Arsenal (FA);
    16 Apr., Arsenal 2:2 ManUre (EPL).

    Even up on goals. We won at their pitch. They drew at ours. What right have they to talk smack? Give it right back. And if they don't listen, kick boots at their heads.

    Us: Three trophies in two seasons (more if you use the Liverpool's patented "5 Trophies in one Season" method of counting the Charity/Community Shield).

    Them: One trophy in two seasons.

    And assuming your friend isn't a band-wagon jumper and knows that they've won the league 8 out of the last 11 seasons, just point out that they're only 4-2 in the Wenger era, and that Sir Red Nose has had a real head start in establishing his club compared to Wenger.

    Trust me, I'm constantly reminding my friend the ManUre fan that a) we won the title last year at Old Trafford, and b) we knocked them out of the FA Cup with practically a reserve side. Throwing in the occassional Yankees analogy also does wonders too.

    i'm going to have to try the boots thing. All my buddy cares about is who is on top at the end. I didn't even razz him a lot last year. He is also a Cubs fan, and I'm a White Sox fan. It makes for great arguements.

    I'm hoping to be in the UK in August and would certainly be interested in acquiring a couple of tickets (me & the 7 yr old) to the Shield Jeff.

    FYI: Cardiff University Hostels are a cheap source of accomodation in the area. I stayed there before last years Shield and they were pretty good. Close to the centre of town with a giant Tescos right next door (excellant for a cheap greasy spoon and carry outs)!

    Not a stupid question at all. Theres so many Cups, matches and tournaments its hard to keep them straight let alone figure out how a team makes it in.
