On August 29, 2019 if you wish to be in the presence of Complete and Total Awesomeness and you are not in Philadelphia Pennsylvania you are simply…….S.O.L. FS1 has the coverage with a 30 minute pre-match show. Unseasonably mild temperatures are expected but wherever you are, I can’t stress the importance of proper hydration enough. This Match is, after all, a part of the Victory Tour. Let me caution you – we are only 8 weeks out, do not let your on-going celebration wane. Northeast Representing Big Time. My East Coast operatives on the ground are telling me that the Citizens of Philadelphia will cast off its long held City Council form of Government in favor of a Monarchy. And in a pre-match ceremony, JJ will be Crowned as Queen of Philadelphia by acclamation. All Hail Your Majesty Queen Julie I 67 hours and 43 minutes till The Two-time Defending, The Two-time Reigning Women’s World Cup Champions create Heaven on Earth. If you haven’t noticed, the ongoing Journey with these Women has been and will continue to be – Absolutely, Positively…… GLORIOUS
So is Carli Lloyd going to be at this game or is she going to be a kicker for the last pre-season NFL weekend? Anybody hear about this random media circus around her being asked to try out for NFL teams?
I heard AND I saw the thread. I’d love her to smash that barrier as well. (loved your ‘kick it over the bar’ quip too) I’ll be in San Antonio for this one, at my favorite bar Moses Rose....
Beachhead established - across the Interstate from Lincoln Financial Field. I can sense their presence. 3,724 seconds till Training begins....gotta go.
Just want to touch base here. I will be chatting with my granddaughters who are watching through some feed in Japan provided by the US Embassy. That will take most of my attention. I did have one scare during the pregame when they saw Rapinoe's hair my youngest (The wild one) said "I think I will give that a try." Then the eldest said, "If you try it mom will shave your head." Then the youngest said, "Yeah, your right. I guess I'll stick with blond." I was much relieved but I think she was pulling my leg. BTW: A Heath goal 5:00 minutes in. It looked easy as pie. Right now Portugal is outclassed and I expect that to continue.
It is a less-than competitive friendly on a work night. I'm grateful for it though. Provides a great escape from the hurricane hysteria, if only for two hours.
To quote both my granddaughters about the first half, "Yawn." The players are putting up a good face but it is quite clear that few really care about much of anything except staying healthy. Of course the clueless announcers are not helping. One thing it would be at least 4-0 if Horan actually took her chances. She missed a header that was almost too easy and a side volly that was even easier for any player even close to this level.
About the only thing good about this game is that we'll get to see a few players who don't usually get many minutes. Press, after 3 or 4 years of less-than-stellar play has finally learned in 2019 to be an excellent flanking forward. Brian, likewise after years of blaa-ness, looks good.
One more quote from my granddaughters, "We can't believe we got up early and wasted sleep time on that boring mess." Remember, they are watching from Japan.
