only watched the 1st half, but Weiper had a great header chance but he centered it too much. Should have scored in that chance. I feel like Weiper almost always close to scoring but has yet to really untie the knot. Reminds me of Woltemade during Year 1 of 2 of last U21 cycle where it took him awhile to untie the knot and then from last season-onwards he's been on a scoring run. on topic of 04 CF Tresoldi, I know that Milan is his dream club but its a bad idea. He should go to a 1BL club where he has a chance to be 1st choice in top 4 league and if that goes well THEN go to Milan if you want. There is 0 reason to rush these things.

and speaking of Weiper almost scored winner in 90+4 for Mainz and then Mainz scores winner 2-1 comeback in 90+5. Wish he scored that winning goal. So far he's shown himself in 3/3 European club footy games this season scoring 2 goals in 3 games and having involvement in 3/3 Ws too.

 

Mainz are doing well so far in Europe unlike in BL though Fiorentina are the bottom team in Calcio this season. I think Weiper needs to find a better club to show his potential. Wish Stuttgart can push again for him in summer or Freiburg or köln because these teams need strikers.

 

Stuttgart is best option tbh.
I fear that clubs like Koln+Freiburg have similar consistency as Mainz tbh. One season they do well then another they do badly.

currently at 3 goals and 1 assist in 6 games for 3rd Liga Stuttgart II.

Then next season shall see return from loan of 05 GK Seimen who is expected to be #1 as well as 05 M Ulrich. And suddenly loads of youth would be playing at that club. as I mentioned recently, Thank God, that Palma persisted with DFB as he went Germany U18 Call up for November instead of U17 WC. I'm glad that he resisted any potential urge to bail from Germany as I mentioned, U17 WC=last time he has to deal with Meister, from U18-onwards=new coach.

yeah Palma got axed by the coach for BOTH U17 EC+U17 WC. Imagine the CB from ALL 08s who has the most career progress and who's on track to breakthrough in XI and for a position like CB too.

An exemplary young footballer should: play in an older age group in his club and regularly play for his national team. And what do you say to this, that... it's sometimes impossible? Does the best one always play?

In short: no. I know that one of the first thoughts that will likely come up with the first post in this thread will be: maybe they were weaker at that moment. To this, let's add other aspects of youth team policies, for example in Germany. Lennart Karl, that is, the youngest goalscorer in Bayern's history in the Champions League, was a very recognizable footballer among observers of German youth football. 2 years ago, Germany's biggest talent from the 2008 age group was playing in… his own age group. Not because he wasn't good enough, nor even because of physical conditions. He was playing there because in the U19, in his position, there was a footballer Jussef Nasrawe (2007). Jussef is a different scale of talent compared to Lennart. He also isn't tall, but above all, he is less dynamic than his younger teammate. Germany U21 works like this. Take 04-05 cycle
-we call up players from their cycle so 04-05s, this will be like 90+% of the call ups.
-we AVOID upping players from 06-07s aka next U21 cycle UNLESS its IMPOSSIBLE to ignore them and in General DFB ONLY calls up the OLDER Age Group so in this case 06s. So players like El Mala, Ouedraogo, Jeltsch who brokethrough 1BL XI are the ones who got upped early this cyle.
-08-onwards, you know DFB DOESN'T want to up anyone there, LOL. I've seen LOADS of fans clamoring for 09 M Eichhorn in U21 but DFB refuses "he should play with his own age group in U17" I'm sure they made him captain to also force him staying, LOL. What happens next season if he plays for a top 1BL club???? What then???

concerning Germany U17, I think one of the main issues is that there really is a lack of creativity on the squad that Meister called up. This leads to a more static Germany with basically 0 creativity and an overall wasteful style of play to boot. I think from the Meister call ups, they were too reliant on Karl for creativity but once he stopped playing with this age group so ended the creativity of the team.

and then if one looks at Germany U21 squad, we look to be missing the more fast wingers so players like Diehl, El Mala, Gruda etc. Only such player is Kade it seems but for me, I feel like he shouldn't make the squad if all options were accessible. Its not a deal breaker because the 2 teams aka Malta+Georgia we are playing are more likely to park the bus. But we need such players later on next year in March.

2 Bayern players, 1 Leipzig, 1 Frankfurt in U21 squad but 0 from BVB. And unless we see a Kaba or Watjen (next season for him) doesn't seem likely to be anyone from the club unless they get someone from transfer.

Freund: "I don't want to talk too much about other players, but he's doing really well, he's got great pace. He's developing really well. I also think he can contribute something to the German national team. Julian will have thought this call-up through carefully."

Were you surprised that Tom Bischof wasn't called up by Julian Nagelsmann?
Freund: "He certainly has the quality for the senior national team, he's back with the U21s now, is captain there, and will get plenty of playing time. We're extremely happy he's here. Even back in the summer, when he joined us, we were really convinced he had Bayern Munich potential, and he's showing it now. He's doing really well, even playing at left-back sometimes. Simply a really good footballer. That's why he fits in so well with this team; he plays very aggressively, although his main strength is with the ball. -Quarshie=Championship, can't comment on him since its a dumb transfer and I don't pay attention to Penglish footy, LOL.
-Morgalla=2BL loan, he ain't staying at this level come Summer. Its question mark over RB Salzburg or 1BL next. I'm hoping its 1BL next. We need MORE RBs at 1BL level. If him and Baum can breakthrough 1BL that would get us really going at RB.
-Aseko=2BL loan, all indications that 1BL will happen next season as he has a hit loan
-Tresoldi=Belgian 1st, all indications that he's headed to 1BL-Serie A come Summer

#fact Morgalla+Aseko if not for injury proness in past, would ALREADY be in 1BL level. Tresoldi had 1BL offers in Summer but he rejected them because he wanted a CL club where he can play XI every game. Seimen, well Stuttgart are a bunch of A-Holes, LOL.

Well DFB twitter indicated that Gruda, Blank, Gechter are out to injury/fitness issues. And that's 2/3 CBs from that. I would say Gechter is the one that we need for a call up in March. He's better than Blank and actually headed to 1BL soon enough unlike Blank. I also don't think that Quarshie is headed to EPL anytime soon.

 

Coulibaly should have been nominated for U21, clearly more talented than Quarshie, Blank and also Gechter and playing on a higher level regularly. Plus a good sign for him because Ivory Coast wants him. DFB and its age group fixation, dont get it
