sure but at end of day, almost ALL German players are flexible.

so both can play in numerous attacking positions, they aren't constrained to 1 position.

Karl is seen as Olise's back up, so for now his main position is RW at Bayern. And Wisdom is usually played at LW too.

will be curious to see if they really manage to go full on breakthrough.

Backhaus and Jeltsch are out
In addition to Nnamdi Collins (Eintracht Frankfurt), who was a regular member of the U21 team during the 2025 European Championship and is returning to the U21 squad after being called up from the senior national team, Paul Wanner (PSV Eindhoven) will also return to the squad after recovering from a foot injury. Mio Backhaus (SV Werder Bremen) and Finn Jeltsch (VfB Stuttgart) are not included in the squad due to injury.

Di Salvo: "Newcomers are goalkeeper Leon Wechsel from GKS Tychy, who has also attracted attention through strong international appearances for the U20s, and midfielder Assan Ouédraogo, who recently impressed in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. I'm also pleased that Tom Bischof from FC Bayern Munich can participate this time, after having to withdraw several times due to injury or otherwise playing for the senior national team or FC Bayern."

 

LOL, why Wechsel who plays Polish 2nd loan instead of Hulsmann who plays Austrian 1st??? DFB always with some nonesensical call ups. Since Backhaus is injured, chance for Seimen to be Germany U21 #1 at least for October.

why drop Baum? Sure he wasn't playing at 1BL Frankfurt but you were boosting him, even Frankfurt admitted that too and that he played well in September for Germany U21.

curious to see if we'll see the Gechter+Collins pairing or not. Used to play together XI for 04s but not always as Gechter used to have injury issues when younger.

Bischof, Ouedraogo, Aseko, Kemlein potential for strong M too.

LOL, a player who is always ignored by DFB.

 

The U21 and U20 squads are stacked and not just in M, if we look at CF's there is fantastic depth. Weiper, Pejcinovic, Tresoldi, Ansah, Moerstedt, Brunner. Topp could have been there too.

 

It is weird how Baum isn't in U21, I get Morgalla will likely start but you want options. I don't wanna see Collins there, he is a CB and needs to start playing there again to develop in that position.

 

the obsession with Collins at RB is dumb. Just because he has speed doesn't mean he's a fullback. He was doing better at Frankfurt when he was playing CB over RB too. Never a fan of playing CBs at fullback because its a completely different positions and easier to be caught out compared to CB.

the RB pool is growing every day, I see no need to obsess over making CBs play at RB for U21. Just last weekend the 2 07s in Pedrosa and Koscierski were BOTH in XI in 2BL as well as 05-Muller, so 3 XIs for newer RBs just last weekend. And plenty of others are closing in on breakthrough.

Baum should have been called up in order to boost him even more.

what's fun about that lot is the diversity of them. None of them are alike too, even the liken they get are all different players.

Don't forgot Moukoko too!!!

Also 07 CF Stange is panning out on 2BL loan
1 goal and 2 assists in 2 games, difference maker in 2/2 games and getting high praise too.

he's already doing better than Ukrainian 07 CF Stepanov too, LOL. And Stepanov does get that hype as one of most promising CFs in Europe by media and FCN too.

as I mentioned recently, what next gen CFs has struggled to adapt in 2BL??? Feels like everyone who is playing there is performing fast. Its interesting as entire 90s born+00-01 majority struggled BADLY in 2BL level too. But from 02-onwards feels like majority all perform in 2BL. Even the Copado, Marino, Remmert are performing in 2BL when given chance. Remmert brokethrough XI was performing and getting praise but got injured too.

its AWKWARD to see that Stepanov isn't doing anything at this level.

now the issue we need to try to perm cap, Ansah, Tresoldi, Pejcinovic, Weiper. I really hope they all join Ansah who is currently having a breakout 1BL season, in order to make it easier to perm cap them.

 

Tresoldi is the biggest risk of poaching right now, seems open to talking to Italian FA/Gattuso according to recent interview.

 

surely he must know that he shouldn't expect a SNT call up until he performs in top 4 league. How does he expect to get Germany SNT call up playing Belgian 1st when we have players like

Woltemade, Beier, Fullkrug, Kleindienst, Burkardt, Undav, *Havertz* etc all in 1BL-EPL level.

I've always said issue with duals is that they are opportunistic. You should very well know you ain't getting SNT call up and for now U21 is the best Germany can offer......work your way into top 4 league and into SNT. But too many duals have 0 interest in doing either and bail instead.

also any and all German CFs next gen needs to understand that the future is 100% post WC26. Fullkrug is always injured seems headed out. Undav-Kleindienst are fast approaching the door too. Beier doesn't need to play CF for SNT as he has his uses as a direct player vs tired legs.

the door is WIDE open for all of them to make SNT in near future. Whether next season or post U21 Euro.

LMAO, Marino was written off by his parent club 2BL KSC as NOT Good enough for 2BL even after a HIT RL loan. Then moved to 2BL H96 last season but got dumped to 3rd Liga H96 II but with no real prospects to 1st team moved this summer to 2BL Paderborn where it didn't take him much time to breakthrough the 1st team.

El Mala is a player who has SNT potential.

more so than Thielmann, I never bought Thielmann having SNT potential tbh. I recall when he brokethrough like at 17 y/o, DFB acted like he's some HUGE talent but never really was. Never got why we wasted U21 call ups on him either or at some point, U21 made him into an RB, LMAO.

Thielmann is more limited player and very direct type but he's NEVER EVER been a game changer.

-Row 3 aka 3rd row=Marino, Copado, Remmert, Stange (I think he would be in row 2 if not for his very young age as a 07)

we so far make up 3 different pecking order of 12 players, 4 in each, that's a big pool. If Downs wasn't poached I would have put him in Row 3 too.

Marino, Stange, Copado have all scored in 2BL and 3/3 having scored winning goals for their clubs too.

Remmert seems to be on par with Downs's stat of 1 assist and even based on game time, similar numbers too. Remmert is nothing special he's a classical CF and least interesting one from the "Row 3", LOL.

one can easily see why he bailed too, he had no real prospects with Germany but what he's done seems good enough for USA SNT.......

PS I'm not writing him off, maybe he has an explosion down the line but for now he's done NOTHING. And his issue is that Pengland clubs even Championship have shit ton of $$$ to waste aka you have time limit before they will bring in new players and then your even further down pecking order.

 

Otto Stange with his 2nd 2BL goal of the season in 4-0 away win v Magdeburg, he now has 4 goal contributions (2 goals + 2 assists) in his first 3 matches on loan at Elversberg.

HSV fans looking mightily unhappy that he even got loaned out, LOL. They were hoping for him to have a real breakthrough come Winter 2026. But that issue with 1BL clubs they are always quick to loan out players for no good reason other than no desire to integrate.
