I think people exaggerate the WC14 squad for me, the XI minus Howedes was highest level and then the benchers were the lower level. So the main strength was the XI and I always thought that pool of options during that era was NOT strong. People just think it was in an illusion that our XI gave and that XI was also players who rarely got injured too.

And IRONY is that from in retrospect their 1st choices for U15-U17 like didn't pan out too. Players like Topp and Tresoldi weren't even relevant from DFB POV until U19. Players like Downs+Ansah until U20..............LMAO, TRANSLATION THE PLAYERS WHO CURRENTLY HAVE MOST CAREER PROGRESS=ONES IGNORED FROM U15-U18.
-DFB was only ever high on Weiper+Pejcinovic for 2005 Age Group when it comes to CFs so all the others like Rolke, Mahmoud, Torsiello etc were just attempts at finding a #3 but at end of day, clear they never rated anyone besides those 2. I recall numerous times after Weiper got upped 2 cycles early to U21, that DFB only called up Pejcinovic for CF and we had 0 CFs on bench, LOL.

Eggestein is one who had issues like some major injuries. Then his coach Kohfeldt played him all over the place and wanted to make him into a CM but then later on ditched that idea. Like how many years did he waste not doing much due to these things?

but at end of day, his issue I think is
unable to replicate Youth form+missing aspects to have a more complete game, he's NOT a complete CF, never was.

Then went to Kiel where he was mostly a bench CF but always looked interesting when he did play whether XI here and there or sub and got close to scoring a LOT whether 1BL or 2BL.

now in Danish 1st where he's playing his 1st ever XI season and he's tearing apart the league and getting praise. That's reality young players NEED game time and this is first time he's GETTING LOADS of it. But wasn't getting much real chances in Germany either.

I don't think he'll be relevant to SNT but feels like he could end up as yet another late bloomer German CF, LOL.



that is one major thing about a position like CF, one needs to be able to establish themselves at pro footy. LOADS of players are never able to replicate youth form to Pro form. What do I keep saying, over and over and over, who gives a SHIT about youth crap, they need to show themselves vs adults/pros.

 

also current gen CFs who the ******** is even getting overhyped??? LMAO.

the only 04-onwards CF who ever got that overhype is Moukoko......that's it.

publicly, Di Salvo and some others will make some very quick comments that are mostly shrugged under the rug too. Like Di Salvo at this International break was super happy about having LOADS of options for CF and how spoiled for choices he is but nothing more and it was said almost in passing while discussing other things, LMAO.

and from media hype not much of anything outside of once in a blue moon, LOL. Like few years ago, was some articles at how Miroslav Klose is a HUGE fan of Nelson Weiper and he thinks he has MAJOR potential for a big career. But beyond that once every few years, nothing else.

I think DFB+Media maybe learned to STFU and let the players dev in peace without hype.

so to bring up ex hyped youth CFs to compare to now is BS. As the current next gen have not much hype.............which is perfect tbh.

in reality, most of the hype I see for next gen is mostly from Germany fans so places like bigsoccer, TM forum, social media etc. That is where one sees any hype, LOL.

they legit have no consistent hype. Werner, Eggestein, Arp had nonstop hype for years and years same for Moukoko.

now, oh look Brunner, Pejcinovic, Weiper won Fritz Walter medals........forgotten 2 seconds later by everyone. Oh look Brunner+Moerstedt led Germany to double U17 trophies, 1st Euro team in history to do it in same year.......forgotten 2 seconds later by everyone. Oh Pejcinovic+Weiper were AMAZING in U17 Euro.....forgotten 2 seconds later by everyone. Weiper could have won U21 Euro 2025 Golden Boot and scored in every XI too, forgotten 2 seconds later by everyone, LMAO.

like everytime they do anything, any hype disappears 2 seconds later.

also outside of Moukoko, NONE of the current CFs of next gen have ever been anointed anything like savior or whatnot, NONE of them.

 

this is how it should ALWAYS be, German players need to have 0 hype.

0 hype is also good because it makes rival countries be more unaware of the next gen Germans too. Let them think we suck and there is nothing for us in the future, LMAO.

but it feels like in general impossible task, because the SNT is a mess, there is always that semi-desperation that kicks in and desire to rush players and anoint them as something.

 

also reality, the next gen CFs have all shown that they CAN take their youth club or YNT form to Pro footy. We've been seeing it since last season and this season as well.

so that's another major difference compared to the 90s crop who most couldn't or needed to be late 20s before they finally showed anything and had to spend years and years in 2BL-3rd Liga Level.

another difference is that almost all the current crop who are emerging have that complete CF package potential too. Again something that isn't really a thing for the 90s crop.

 

I forgot, Moerstedt excelled in U19 Euro this Summer was seen as best CF at the tourney and won U19 Euro Golden Boot.............forgotten 2 seconds later.

reality about Moerstedt and Brunner they were easily best CFs at U17 Euro, U17 WC, U19 Euro.

but based on hype one would think they never did anything, LMAO.

had we taken the best squad we EASILY would have won U19 Euro too. The D was a makeshift who played for first time together at U19 Euro, LOL. And others missing or returning from injury. So thing would look very different otherwise. Maybe if we had won U19 Euro would be more hype but even then I think, any talks about any of them would be gone 2 seconds later, LOL.

 

the ONLY Youth CF getting hyped in German media these days is on 2BL loan Ukrainian 07 CF Stepanov.

got trashed hard earlier in season (2BL starts earlier than 1BL too) for being piss poor and struggling to impress with poor stats allround too but still got praised as a HUGE talent with HIGH ceiling.

one of his issues is that he's basically playing like a U19 player and trying to play like that into pro footy as well as so far poor decision making on top of that.

now like just yesterday, few weeks later, got again hyped up as a HUGE talent that is expected to explode in future and is likely to end up in HIGH level footy, a player who will have a SHIT TON of interest around Europe and one of most promising Youth CFs in Europe. That in 2-3 years he'll be in 1BL and everyone will be after him.

that is NOT the type of hype I would want for German Youth CFs, LMAO. Its also reminisce of what used to be said about Werner, Eggestein, Arp types. Like excessive expectations and its funny that media would do this given the player had piss poor start to season, not saying he can't turn it around, but like sheesh calm down, LOL. Why you GOING OVERDRIVE TO EXTREME on the ********ing pressure????

 

I haven't seen anything from Stepanov that makes him look a bigger talent than Weiper or Moerstedt tbh. But yeah overhyping players is never good, Arp for example was seen as the big CF hope and then trashed when he didn't meet those expectations. Not really fair on him, that pressure doesn't help.

 

yeah 17 y/o Weiper in 1BL was more impressive than 18 y/o Stepanov in 2BL. Weiper at 17 y/o wrecked some WC14 champs. Heck even Beier at 17 y/o impressed more than Stepanov who has a complete CF profile.

funniest is troll poster's hypocrisy, he shits on German youth CFs with BS like they did nothing in pro footy.............when those players are scoring for 1BL+CL clubs but doesn't have same opinion on Stepanov doing nothing in lower 2BL.....and good chunk of the German youth next gen did better at 17 y/o than Stepanov at 18 y/o......



saddest thing about Arp is that all the trashing came from Germany side of equation.......I forgot which poster it was aka that person doesn't post in here anymore but that person during 00-01 U21 cycle would most of the times come here to shit on Arp at every chance.

other posters on these boards also shat on Arp for not panning out as hoped, like troll poster and some others I won't name too. Like troll poster even tried to "urge" me to shit on him too but always refused.

at some point, I recall DFB made some shitting on Arp remarks too for not becoming Elite like they hoped for. Like once again DFB showing how little they care about their own players, LOL. And this happened while still YNT eligible too, YIKES.

like sheesh, I could understand this type of attitude from people who HATE Germany but that, fans, media, DFB all started to shit on him is very shitty attitude.
