Broger was getting praise, seen as one of Wolfsburg's bigger talents and made 1BL debut at the end of 23/24 but predictably that hadn't turned into any sort of first team integration. Zero 1BL minutes this season.
Damn that's a shame, I know he wouldn't likely have started but still the most talented CB in the squad. Will definitely be a starter in the next cycle you'd expect.
he got propped up by the brass and numerous coaches including Hasenhuttl. In fact, Hasenhuttl kept yapping about how he wants to integrate Academy players but avoided it at every chance unless he was forced to like with Odogu. this is always issue with so many coaches, they prop up talents but don't want to integrate anyone. Nothing but lip service. in end, Hasenhuttl got the axe anyways but too late Broger is bailing. I would have expected a loan had he signed pro contract at Wolfsburg.
could very well be a Collins+Jeltsch partnership next season. With both playing in CL+EL next season too, that gives them edge over everyone else.
-DFB confirms that 03 GK Schenk and 02 CF Scherhant were both cut from final squad for U21 Euro. -05 M Ulrich's future is still unknown linked with 1BL clubs like HSV, 5 2BL clubs are also interested in EB, Paderborn, Furth, AB, KSC and other clubs too and at same time, 1BL Stuttgart making a move to extend and integrate is up in air too. https://www.transfermarkt.de/paderb...lrich-vfb-vertrag-endet-2026/view/news/454957 -07 GK Hellstern looks like on track to become 3rd Liga Stuttgart II #1 next season. He wants to focus on building up muscle and breakthrough 1BL next season aka make an impression in preseason for Wolfsburg. So 06 CB Wurm got called up to replace him. So we are going into a tourney with a Wurm, Decker, and Herwerth for CBs..........no Jeltsch, no Odogu, no Dal etc.
The U19 tournament should be played earlier in the summer. Otherwise you will see more players dropping out to concentrate on impressing in 1st team pre-season.
can't blame him, too many clubs will dump young players on loan based on missing preseason or injuries etc. One needs to take any chance they get, Wolfsburg also getting new coach too, so need to impress the new coach is also a thing. still this is a HUGE blow no Jeltsch, Dal, Odogu, Moreira at U19 Euro means we are missing 3/4 of the back 4........ for Germany winning trophies is always linked with CBs more than anything. U21 Euro in 2009 had CBs like Hummels, Boateng, Howedes while U21 Euro in 2021 had N.Schlotterbeck this could be difference between GS exit and not. issue is that Decker, Herwerth, Wurm...........have 0 games together.....LMAO, makeshift CB pairing done for 1st time=for the tourney itself.....

The attacking player joins from SV Meppen and signs a contract with KSV until June 30, 2028. The Emden native joined SV Meppen's youth academy at the age of 14 and made his first appearances in the third division in the 2022/23 season. After Meppen's relegation in 2023, Prasse became a regular in the Regionalliga Nord, missing only two matches in the past two seasons. Last season, he contributed eleven goals and four assists in 33 appearances. "Luca Prasse has recently been one of the outstanding players in the Regionalliga Nord," emphasizes Sporting Director Olaf Rebbe. "At just 20 years old, he has already made more than 75 appearances for the senior team and is distinguished by his versatility in attack. We believe he can prove himself for a place in the first team through his good training performances and appearances with the U23s." The versatile attacker, who prefers to play on the wing, is looking ahead: "The move to Kiel is a big step for me, one I approach with respect and enormous anticipation. The prospects presented to me in discussions with Holstein's management have completely convinced me – especially in conjunction with the existing framework for young players." -04 CF Ansah moves to 1BL Union Berlin!!!! 𝗜𝗹𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗵 𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 ❤️🤍 pic.twitter.com/HuWyIOlZfB— 1. FC Union Berlin (@fcunion) June 6, 2025 Young, fast, and assertive: Union signs U20 international Ilyas Ansah 1. FC Union Berlin has secured the services of Ilyas Ansah. The 20-year-old attacker is moving from SC Paderborn to Köpenick and will immediately strengthen head coach Steffen Baumgart's team. From small Lüdenscheid to the big football world Ansah began his football career in the SC Lüdenscheid youth team, before moving on to VfL Bochum, TSC Eintracht Dortmund, and Sportfreunde Siegen before joining SC Paderborn's U19 team. There, the attacker impressed, scoring four goals in twelve matches in the A-Junior Bundesliga. He soon had the opportunity to prove himself in the men's division: From April 2023, he played for Paderborn's second team in the Oberliga Westfalen. A professional contract followed in the summer – and then his second-division debut in September 2023. Ansah made his first start in the 1-1 draw against 1. FC Magdeburg. Just nine matchdays later, he scored his first goal for the seniors – in the venerable Volksparkstadion of all places: the 1.94-meter-tall right-footer scored the decisive goal in a 2-1 away win against Hamburger SV. By the 2024/25 season, Ansah had become an integral part of the Paderborn team. He appeared in 33 of 34 second-division matches, scored six goals himself, and provided another six assists. With SCP, he fought for promotion until the final matchday, but was narrowly defeated by SV Elversberg in the race for the relegation play-off spot. Ansah also attracted attention on the international stage: Since November 2023, he has made twelve appearances for the German U20 national team, scoring five goals. Now he wants to take his next step with the Irons. Three facts about Ilyas Ansah Ansah has already played alongside Aljoscha Kemlein and Tom Rothe in the national youth team. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends: whether it's bowling or table tennis, or a relaxing afternoon at a café. At the DFB, he's known internally as "the gentle giant" – not because of his size, but because of his calm demeanor off the pitch. Comments on the transfer "Union is a special club that stands for passion, solidarity, and honest football – exactly what I associate with this sport. When the contact was made, I didn't have to think twice. For me, the move to Berlin is a huge opportunity to develop at a high level, gain new experiences, and contribute to the team's success. I'm looking forward to getting to know the environment, participating in the preseason, and hopefully soon being on the pitch at the An der Alten Försterei stadium," said Ilyas Ansah, commenting on his move to the capital. "With Ilyas, we're getting a young but already highly developed attacker who consistently performed well last season. He brings pace, physicality, and goal threat – qualities we need in our game. We are convinced that he can take the next step with us and are delighted to welcome him to Union," said Horst Heldt, Managing Director of Men's Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin, explaining the signing.
truly unbelievable how so many players are doing these 0 progress transfers. So instead of going to 1BL-Serie A he goes to Belgian 1st..............again outside of them playing CL Qualifiers there is 0 other point in this transfer and when one plays in all season in 1st Abroad these few Europe matches doesn't really make any difference in grand scheme of things. I bet that no 1BL club wanted to pay $7-8M too, LOL. if Di Salvo is still U21 coach next cycle, I bet he calls up Tresoldi to U21 even though others are in 1BL while he's in 1st Abroad aka bias. reality this transfer should nix Tresoldi from any U21 next season at MIN Year 1 of 2. pretty funny that Ansah has less hype than Tresoldi but Ansah bags the better transfer, LMAO. 🚨🔵⚫️ EXCL | Nicolo #Tresoldi to Club Brugge is considered to be a done deal!A full agreement has now been reached with Hannover about a transfer of the 20 y/o talented striker. I mean we've seen Undav do pretty well out of Belgium move, but I agree would much prefer to see Tresoldi move to 1BL instead. Like you say German clubs probably too cheap to pay the fee. That being said Club Brugge did pretty well in CL last season, making last 16, so hopefully they can repeat that.
Yeah, it's true that the Belgian league isn't one of the top ones, but at least he'll be playing in Europe—either the Champions League or the Europa League, depending on how they qualify. In the end, the most important thing is that he gets plenty of game time, and playing in Europe is just a bonus. I'm not even sure any Bundesliga team competing in Europe could guarantee him regular minutes. So, when you look at the bigger picture, it doesn’t seem like a bad move at all. But of course, everything can change throughout the season.
Ansah cost $4M for Union, LOL Tresoldi is costing double that. 1BL clubs are clowns they have no problem always paying $10+M for foreign youth players but always balk at anything close to double digits millions and always aim for like $2-5M MAX for Germans, LOL.

Yeah, it really shows the difference. Guys like Meister and Balitsch screw all our hopes of doing anything in these tourneys, and yet constantly get extended by the DFB.
Yeah, totally agree. The real problem with Balitsch, Di Salvo, and Meister isn’t individual talent — Germany still has an insane talent pool. It’s the complete tactical and developmental stagnation under these guys. There’s: No identity, No cohesive idea of play, Players are thrown into roles with zero chemistry, and The “just do your thing” approach kills structure and confidence. Meanwhile, you have guys like Broich or even Hannes Wolf trying to implement bold reforms at the base, building technically complete, intelligent players. But once they hit U19 or U21... they’re stuck under guys who are still coaching like it's 2005. Static build-up, zero pressing schemes, weird player selections. It’s crazy that these coaches get constant extensions despite no vision or results. The DFB should be nurturing developers and thinkers — not former pros who get jobs by default. And let’s be honest — we’ve got so much raw individual talent, many of these kids will still go on to become world-class players on their own. But we’ll never win a youth tournament again if they keep being coached like this.
Played really well to go 4-0, bit sloppy to concede the two goals after that though. Woltemade is way too good for this level, Martel has been superb as well.

Hello there from Denmark. We are now in the Euro-21 Quarter Finals, by winning our first two games against Ukraine and not least the Netherlands, with only Finland to go, which is crazy since we had no expectations at all, considering that 10 of our best U-21 players are not allow or able to play at the moment. 1st U-21 keeper Filip Jørgensen from Chelsea is out, and likewise Rasmus Højlund and Patrick Dorgu from Man United. Leicester left-back Victor Kristiansen, just as AS Monaco top-scorer this season, Mika Biereth were not being allowed by their clubs to play at the U21 Euro Finals. Stade Reims and Denmark NT winger Mohamed Daramy, who was selected for the U-21 Euro squad, but unfortunately is out with a knee injury. NT center back Lucas Høgsberg, who is the biggest FC Nordsjælland sales object this summer to a European top club, was also not allowed to play at the U-21 Euro Finals, with the same being the case with Red Bull Salzburg winger Adam Daghim, and Salzburg midfielder Maurits Kjaergaard. Now, my main point being that 19-yo NT Midfielder Victor Froholdt who has also not been allowed to play at the U-21 Euros, but officially according to FC København, has been refused a move to a German club for a €17 fee (most surely by Frankfurt), an offer that is not even up for discussion according to the latest news, but he may be for sale for a bid starting at €20 million, with now also Tottenham being interested (with their new Danish manager Thomas Frank having him on his wanted list). Never the less he could still end up in Frankfurt.
Yeah we've started well, on the front foot. Great play by El Mala to set up Darvich. Given Netherlands won v Norway earlier, a win in this match puts us in a good position.
