It's going to be tough for Noah Darvich to make the breakthrough at Barca considering that he has to compete with Yamal, Olmo(often injured but still), Fermin Lopez, Pedri,etc. He might have made the wrong decision. Hopefully this decision won't slow down his career too much. He needs to move next summer and start getting playing time at a higher level.

 

I just noticed that Paris Brunner has moved to Cercle Brugge. What's up with him? Why can't he become a starter already? 3 league appearances in 9 games. He missed the last game due to a foot injury. It's far from an ideal start.

 

doesn't really matter since neither gonna be relevant anytime soon anyways. There is no point in making a fuss for either. If they were in Germany they would be playing U19-RL anyways, LOL.

for Darvich, I don't see how this will slow down his career? He isn't gonna be in Barca B forever, if he doesn't breakthrough 1st team, tons of clubs are interested in him around Europe.

The very best talents don't tend to stay in the U21 team until they are 23 years old. If they are still playing for Germany u21 at 23, there is something wrong with them and most likely they are not going to be elite.

99% of players discussed here will never ever be elite anyways, so why obsess with such a topic anyways???

eh you should know by now that's NOT how it works either. Staying in U21 has 0 to do with Elite or not but if there is room for players in SNT. If there is no room for players in SNT why wouldn't they play in U21 until last second???

I've seen Low, Flick, Nagelsmann all say X or Y is better off in U21 over SNT due to lack of space and prefering they play U21 to get experience. And plenty get called up post U21 to SNT, so who cares.

and imagine your making a fuss about
-a player at a club like Barca, one of biggest clubs in Europe and still a teenager. Who gives a shit if he makes it at Barca or not. I wouldn't mind him going to 1BL in Winter or Summer tbh.
-a player who is a CF at a club that plays 1 uptop and he's not 1st choice so duh will be on bench by default. Also you should know that this position to get full breakthrough it isn't simple regardless of club as its a very experienced focused obsession by like 99% of clubs.

 

my advice to people
-stop obsessing over world class-Elite or bust.
-stop obsessing over the loser rival countries..
-stop obsessing over comparing our way of doing things with rival countries. Oh Country X or Y has no issues with youth players............what does that have to do with us???? NOTHING. Like its been obvious for ages how Germany U21-SNT works on numerous topics but people always seem to ignore this and fixate on what others do instead.......

-focus on fact that its team that wins you trophies not solo players
-focus on what we got and our pool and nothing else
-focus on fact that players by positions looking like big improvement compared to 90s born age groups. So things are on the rise.
-focus on reality that huge chunk of Germans=late bloomers or need time.

 

also lets not forget that HUGE GIGANTIC chunk of our players are duals......imagine people making a fit about duals when we ALL know that we will lose HUGE CHUNK of them by default.

Wasn't he a left winger when we won the U17 World Cup? Super talented attacking players find a way to get playing time at a relatively high level even if it's out of position.

 

he's only ever played W to accomodate CFs who can ONLY play CF.
-when with Germany he plays W to accomodate Moerstedt who can only play CF. Heck Brunner THIS MONTH of October had goal+Assist in 2-1 W vs Spain U19.
-with BVB U19 he played W because the Dutch Rijkhoff can only play CF but more often then not Brunner shifted to CF and Rijkhoff played AM/SS and off Brunner. When the Dutch left, Brunner played Sole CF
-with BVB 1st team he played W in preseason and a bit of CF because others who can only play CF played there.

how many times over the years did I see you complaining HARD that X or Y will NEVER EVER be Elite or World Class W because they lack crazy fast speed.........Brunner doesn't have crazy fast speed, he has decent speed to good depending on the moment or opponent. I feel like sometimes he looks to have good speed and other times not as much vs fast fullbacks and speed that works better at youth footy then pro footy. So when it comes to pro footy, is he really a W????

the impression I get is that when Brunner plays W he basically utilizes
his OVERALL decent speed, his Physique and his Dribbling to get past players but bunch of times he is forced to dribble because he ain't gonna overrun the opponent, the further he is from the goal the less likely his speed will be useful. And when he does reach the goal its because he used his Physique+Dribbling to go past 3-4 players, LOL. I mean teams like BVB+Germany have like majority of possession so there isn't always need to go speed crazy, especially true for Germany.

but Brunner has shown time and again that he can be a solo difference maker too.

this something to ponder and add some fitness issues and club only playing 1 CF uptop etc. So him not breakingthrough NOW NOW NOW is it 100% shocking? Or is it a fact that he needs to adapt to pro footy first??? So not sure why your making a fit about him. Even BVB every report about him always complained about 1 thing aka his speed. They still rated him highly but they wanted him to be super fast player.

even super talented attacking players can't play every attacking positions effectively. That's being disengenous, they all have strenght and weaknesses.


this reminds me how many times do I see people wanting YOUNG CFs to emerge in SNT. Lets be honest, no German young CFs even pans out in SNT, LOL. Gomez was like 21-22 y/o when he brokethrough SNT and he FLOPPED and it wasn't until he was older that he becamse useful to NT. Werner also emerged young in NT and he did well in CC17 but struggled when looking at tourneys like WC18-EC20.

so not sure why your harping on Brunner who is still a teenager, LOL. We might have a wave of next gen CFs who are emerging but don't expect anything for awhile.

in past like 25 years, the older the CF the more effective they are to NT. And since majority are duals, how many will even be options down the line. Even Brunner no guarantee that he makes SNT or doesn't get poached. A NT only needs 2ish CFs to call up, not 5+.

 

Also remember that quite a few players can be late bloomers.

Just look at the current NT squad. Several guys like Fullkrug, Andrich, Gross, Undav, Kleindienst etc all only made NT debut in mid to late 20's or even 30's.

So just because someone isn't already shining in pro football when they are still 17/18 it doesn't mean they can't or won't make it.

 

yeah and Fullkrug, Undav, Kleindienst are all CFs too which just confirms that the position tends to be the older the better, LOL.

reality way toooo many people have 0 patience, they get annoyed if every player isn't a Yamal or Haaland, LOL.

Eintracht Frankfurt was forced to make early changes in the cup match against Gladbach (2:1) due to Arthur Theate's sending off. Nnamdi Collins (20) was finally brought in to fill up the defense. According to coach Dino Toppmöller, he did his job "outstandingly." The same applies to starting eleven player Nathaniel Brown (21).

"Collins has seamlessly integrated into our spirit," reported Toppmöller at the press conference after the match. "He came in from the cold today and did an outstanding job. Not only him, but also Brown, who had hardly any playing time up to now," said Toppmöller, drawing a positive conclusion after the performances of the two youngsters.

"To function like this in a knockout match where a lot is at stake shows that we have really good guys, but they were also supported by the corset that we had on the pitch," said the satisfied coach, who even fielded Brown from the start.

Nkounkou was not ready for the starting eleven
"Niels Nkounkou was still slightly under the weather from the allergic reaction," said Toppmöller. "He trained with the team for the first time yesterday. We could have put Theate on the outside position, but we deliberately chose a strong and fast player like Brown. He did really well."

The good impressions of the two defensive players should now lead to an increase in playing time - at least at times. Both players have only made a brief appearance in the Bundesliga so far.

-05 AM/W Komur getting praise by 1BL Augsburg coach for his showings during mid-week in DFB Cup where he had pre-assist for the 3-0.

It was not the decisive scene when Mert Kömür ran towards the opponent's penalty area in the 90th minute of the DFB Cup match between FC Augsburg and FC Schalke 04, held the ball in a tight space against three Royal Blues and passed it to Steve Mounié, who in turn assisted Samuel Essende to make it 3-0. Nevertheless, Augsburg coach Jess Thorup explicitly praised the 19-year-old at the press conference after the match for this offensive move, which made it 3-0 for the Fuggerstadt team.

"He can do that, he does it very well," said Thorup happily. Kömür has not shown these skills all that often this season. In ten competitive matches he has only been used three times (always as a substitute). The homegrown player still has some catching up to do, especially against the ball.

"This intensity, this physical effort is missing. If he plays eight, he has to lead these tackles better," demands Thorup. "He's close," he explains, but at the same time emphasizes the great competition in the FCA's midfield: "It won't be easy. He has to use the minutes he gets very well."

What top talent Kömür is still missing: "He's close"

Mert Kömür (19) is waiting for his breakthrough at FC Augsburg. Coach Jess Thorup doesn't want to make too big promises.

Mostly only on the bench: FCA talent Mert Kömür.
Mert Kömür was serenaded when he was allowed to audition for the FC Augsburg pros for the first time almost two and a half years ago. At the training camp in Scheffau, Austria, in the summer of 2022, he celebrated his 17th birthday and received his first test from coach Enrico Maaßen, beaming from ear to ear.

Today Kömür is taller than he was back then, more physically stable, older of course, and still a cheerful person. However, the four-time German U-20 international (two goals) is still waiting for his breakthrough. "I want to play more games next season," the Dachau-born number ten said in May after crowning his debut in the starting eleven on matchday 34 in Leverkusen (1:2) with a dream goal.

That has only worked to a limited extent so far, with just two brief appearances in the league this season, and in the cup match against Schalke (3:0) Kömür played for around 20 minutes on Tuesday and was instrumental in Augsburg's third (irregular) goal.

And as difficult as the situation may be right now, the 19-year-old doesn't let it show. He still beams in each of the rare interviews, politely shakes hands with reporters and thanks them at the end of the conversation. And he says things like: "I try to do everything for the team." Or: "I try to make every game an exclamation mark." And you believe him, Kömür simply seems to want to make the most of every minute.

"What he does very well is his offensive actions," praises coach Jess Thorup. "He can do that, he does it very well." But what is still missing for a permanent breakthrough at the top? "I spoke to Mert about it, the intensity and physical effort are still missing against the ball. When we play with an eight, he needs better tackles, more pressure. The things that Elvis (Rexhbecaj) and Frank (Onyeka) do, for example."

In Thorup's changed system with a three-man chain, two sixes and two eights/tens, a lot is focused on the physical component. And now that Alexis Claude-Maurice, a strong player behind the only striker, has emerged, Thorup is relying more on the rustic type like Rexhbecaj or the withdrawn striker Phillip Tietz.

So it is more a question of the options, the starting position. In games like the recent one against Dortmund (2:1) Thorup needs fighters, in the sporadic cases in which FCA goes into the game as favorites, like on Tuesday against Schalke, the technically fine blade is also good. "You saw that when we have the ball more, we have opportunities with Arne Maier or Mert," says the coach.

Kömür "is close," says Thorup, and immediately adds: "Although there is a lot of competition in this position too. It won't be easy for them. They have to use the minutes they get very well."

Football, says Kömür, who is now an adult, in the manner of an adult, "is a business where sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. I had a phase where I played less, that's part of football. I think that makes me stronger, and I can grow from that and show more and better performances." And keep shining. Either way.

Jonas Urbig had conceded 20 goals in the first ten match days, although the young U21 national goalkeeper was not really to blame for any goals conceded apart from the opening game against Hamburger SV. Nevertheless, in this tense situation and after two defeats in a row, Struber now seems to want to rely on Schwäbe's routine and experience.

so basically the TEAM is playing like shit and Urbig gets basically the shaft for sake of having older and more experienced GK. And that is why in general its hard for young GKs to be #1 or stay #1 in Germany these days. Most coaches take any excuses to bench the players.

Urbig should leave in Winter tbh, no reason to stick around and Koln's transfer ban ends in Winter so if they want new GK to be bench they can get one.

Yeah I mean you see foreign youth get hyped by Dortmund fans way more, and yet pretty much none tend to amount to much. Whereas players like Knauff, Collins and Rothe are all looking good in 1BL , Blank is playing CL for Salzburg and Pauli is getting praise and regular xi for Koln (how long until he makes it to 1BL?)

These players could all have been useful to the club, especially given how they always seem to get a ton of injuries. Yesterday and in the DFB Pokal they had a whole lot of mediocre II players called up to the bench.

 

Pauli is only a matter of time, already linked with 1BL-EPL, I would guess possible in Summer.

Assan Ouédraogo celebrated his Bundesliga debut for RB Leipzig on Saturday. The 18-year-old, who moved from FC Schalke 04 to the Saxons in the summer, came on as a substitute in the 1:2 defeat against BVB. At the subsequent press conference, coach Marco Rose spoke about his youngster and the roadmap for him.

"Assan is simply a good boy. He has good dynamism, is really fast and, despite his size, a very good footballer," praised Rose. The plan now is to bring him up to the top level step by step. Especially in terms of fitness, the midfielder still has some catching up to do after the knee injury he sustained during the summer preparation.

To do this, he needs playing time above all else. But he should get this time soon. "The squad is not particularly big," Rose noted in this regard. Due to Xavi Simons' injury, Ouédraogo could become an alternative after the international break at the latest.
