Actually, one security nazi, some loser wearing a yellow shirt with the number 5039 on it. I sensed trouble before the kickoff. There he was, in the stands, between section 134 and 135 in the aisle, looking like he was ready to start some $hit from the beginning of the game. He gave people a hard time for smoking cigarettes, standing in the aisle, etc. He was a total jerk, and he did NOT belong in the section. An argument between two fans escalated into a brawl because number 5039 decided to wade in after the argument was over and throw people out of the section. Ironically, after the brawl was over, there was no security in the sections, and everyone got along fine. The ONLY reason there was a fight at all was because yellow shirt number 5039 had a chip on his shoulder. This crap makes me want to not renew my season tickets.
Yeah, what happened with that fight? I looked up from the action and saw a big mess of people behind the SE's and cops start running from the other side of the field to join in.
I was in the upper deck with some friends tonight. I saw the cops running and at first I couldn't figure out where they were going. I thought someone was probably giving away donuts.
I sensed there would be a problem beause of the attitude that 5039 had from the second he walked into the Nest and Barra. At the 3 minute mark I walk to the concourse and contacted DC United Staff. I was told that Zack would come and handle the problem. At half time I again contacted DC United Staff and said that this individual was being a jerk, was being rude and was causing problems. From the very start of the game people were complaining and several individuals contacted the supervisors. A non-event escalated in the Barra when security threatend Oscar. He defended the Barra and was assaulted by security. His arm was bruised and his camera was broken. Security caused the problem. And once again 5039 indicated the while he had worked games in the past he had not worked that section. What do they think will happen when a newbie guard is assigned to the section and the game starts with 5 or 6 security guards in the sections. This problem must be fixed for next year. These are the fans who are there in good times and the past three seasons (the bad years). A continuation of the the SQ will cause people to leave. This problem must be fixed
This is what was going on around minute 70-75, correct? I was wondering what was happening just above most of the SE/BB. Sorry to hear that security wannabe cop jacknuts don't get it. Hope Oscar's arm gets better and gets his camera replaced.
This has to be dealt with.... This is PATHETIC!!! considering that (1) we have the BEST fans in the league, (2) we SUCKED this entire year and (3) all I could hear on television at the end of the game was, "DC UNITED !! !! !! DC UNITED !! !! !! DC UNITED !! !! !!" I saw NO jerseys turned inside out!!! I heard NO BOOS!!!!!!! (though at times we deserved it) It is very disheartening that these jacknut security guards do not even realize who is paying their wages every single F^CK!ng game! I am soooooooooooooo tired of hearing about the best fans in MLS getting harassed by the worst security in MLS it sickens me. I swear that if I am able to attend a match next season (which is highly likely) and I have to put up with this crap I will fight back with every bit of strength I have, which is several bits mind you. Stephen Zack, please do something about this abomination in the off-season. We love you. We love our team, but the abuse has to stop...NOW!!!!!!!!!!
There was no reason for yellow shirt #5039 to have been in the section at the start of the game. He should NEVER work security at RFK again. Hopefully something will happen this time. I somehow doubt it will.
INCOMING!!! Man, talk about biting off more than you can chew! The look on that security guys face when he saw 20 enraged Barra Brothers coming at him was priceless. I'm not advocating anything here, I'm just saying we've had enough. When that guy grabbed Oscar, we all just snapped. It was actually Oscar that settled everything down. It could have been much worse. I just hope next year we can settle this once and for all. PLEASE assign one competent security person to our area and leave him there all year. We did absolutely nothing wrong last night to warrant that. He asked one guy to put his cigarette out and he did. This guy was just itching for trouble. He got it.
Standing in the aisle is a fire code issue. Smoking is not allowed in the bowl. As for the security incident, I didn't see it, so I can't comment, but I did find it unusual that the police wee called to that section.
Re: Re: Attn: Steven Zach - Security nazis strike again Gimme a break. People have been in the aisles, smoking cigarettes and cigars, since the first season. This has NOTHING to do with the rules. Security has always looked the other way with regards to the Screaming Eagles and Barra Brava breaking the rules. And they also look the other way with La Norte throwing toilet paper and confetti onto the field. This guy, yellow shirt #5039, had a hard on to start trouble when he came into the section. He got what he wanted. Did you ever think the reason it's unsual for the police to get called into "that section" is because the SEs and BBs are perfectly capapable of policing themselves? There was NO NEED WHATSOEVER for yellow shirt #5039 to behave the way he did. In fact, there was no need for anyone from security to be in the section in the first place. I know. I was there. Unless you were there too, you're talking out of your ass.
not only did security start and esclate the whole incident but it was Oscar who finally calmed it down. By the way, this MPD officer named Dectective R.N. Espinoza was there at the end, up in Section 232 doing his usual job of cursing at fans and physicially intimidating fans. This is something I have witnessed from previous matches as well from him. During the all star match during the rain delay he cursed at some teenagers and threatened them. My friend and I challenged him for this and he got up in my face, cursed me, insulted me and tried to goad me into a physical confrontation. I filed a formal complaint with the MPD. I will do so again today as a result of yesterday. I will also send Stephen a letter and ask him to ask the MPD not to assign him to further games. I really don't understand why CSC or whatever the security company is doesn't do a better job training their folks. How about having some of the security guys get together before the season with Oscar, Marshall and Chico and get to some kind of understanding on how to get through the year? I'd imagine sitting down with the supervisor and a couple of their guys for a while would solve most of this. 135 must be the only section they enforce the smoking ban, numerous people smoke in 231, 232, 233
Watching the game tape, the security guard stuck out like a sore thumb (yellow shirt in a sea of black and white shirts). MESSAGE TO #5039 and the previous securinazi #5003: Get over it. It's a matter of soccer, not homeland security. Note that 5003 was busted down to Freedom games after his shenanigans. 5039, YOUR AHSS IS NEXT.
Barry Goldwater is at fault for this. He should be beaten for it. Mike, I saw that fuckface bragging to his buddies at around the 85th minute about how he was in there breaking stuff. Then he had the audacity to ask us how much time was left in the game since we were in the front rows. I wanted to crack his skull.
How much of this nonsense can be explained by what happened at FedEx Field on Monday, and Security's self-projected need to do something just for the sake of doing something? (If you think like a bureaucrat it makes perfect sense.) Another thing: there were security/usher types stopping people in the tunnels going into the seating areas, checking tickets. Why? Especially since each section (for some unknown reason) has its own usher to begin with? What's the point, except to (1) harass us or (2) provide jobs for the otherwise unemployable. And the worst thing about this is -- IT'S OUR TICKET MONEY PAYING FOR THESE USELESS PEOPLE. Why should I pay money just to get hassled? Security should just let the SE/BB sections be.
You know, for two hours, 14 times a year, the SE/BB put aside any feelings of indifference at all for the good of a common cause, Cheering on the DCU. For two hours, we are friends and brothers in unison....We do not harm others, we do not harm players, we do not fight...WHAT THE H*LL HAVE WE EVER DONE TO WARRANT THE SECURITY THAT WE HAD LAST NIGHT??? Oscar and the BB, I support you 100% for sticking together last night and I am sure that Steven Zach will address the matter promptly
I was sitting three rows behind Oscar. Most of the first half, the yellow shirts were telling Barra fans to stop lighting up cigarettes. This ticked off some of the Barra fans, in fact instead of putting the cigarettes out they would pass it to another person ane the whole BS would start again. One could almost feel the mounting tension right from the beginning of the game. After the second goal, a guy was pulled and dragged away by four security guards from the Barra section under the cover of the flag and dragged away before anyone noticed anything (I noticed because he was standing right in front of me). Methinks it had something to do with firecrakers. Then the one cigarette incident got out of hand, Oscar was led to the top of the section (directly above 134, which is the Screaming Eagles section). A few Barra fans when to his aid. Oscar was screaming for the Barra fans to go back. But the pushing and shoving escalated and finally Oscar was led away. At that point, frenzied Barra fans ran from their section, and the security guards instead of diffusing the situation, appeared to escalate the tensions. They taunted Barra, instigated and provoked Barra fans. A few guards threw down their walkie talkies and put up their fists making hand gestures and taking boxing stances for eveyone to see. Very childish behavior, but also very predictable. What happened next was scary as the guard who started the whole incident and his most provocative supervisor (in a blue shirt) were pummeled by the Barra fans, with many other Barra fans running to join the action, until a whole brigade of police came to their rescue. Ugly. Sad. The drummers in the row behind me (who were not with Barra Brava and drummed Brazilian style), abandoned the Barra section and went to section 136. I snucked into the Barra Brava the last two games. The difference in the last two games was the heavy-handed security, which goes a long way into explaining the occurrence of such UGLY behaviour.
I took a date to the game last night. Sitting in 232 we had a good view of what went on. She wanted to know why nobody was helping the security guy. I told her he is lucky we're in the US because he would already be dead in other places. Security was a fv**ing joke. I saw the SECURITY GUARD grab the FAN/SPECTATOR by the THROAT!!!! WE DON'T PAY MONEY TO BE ASSAULTED!!! And what was the deal with checking tickets after you were already in the stadium??? Every time I got a beer I was asked if I had a ticket, it didn't matter for what section. It was hilarious when the BB ganged up on the guy. You all should have beat him down, it's not like they can arrest the lot of ya. Rich
There better be an explanation why the guy was there in the first place. I spoke to one of the other yellow shirts near the end of the game, and he agreed that the entire incident was caused by #5039. I asked why he was there in the first place, standing in the aisle betweeen 134 and 135, and he said that it's because prior to the game these guys were told to stand in the sections. WHY?????? If security had not been in the sections, nothing would've happened. Someone (Goldwater? Zack? Anshutz? someone else?) has a lot of 'splaining to do.
Oh, and why didn't Steven Zach come to the section after he was notified about the problem of #5039 standing there blocking peoples' views and causing trouble? He was visible on tv. He must've been visible from the press box too.
Re: Re: Re: Attn: Steven Zach - Security nazis strike again Exactly what did Foot/Phoot say out his or her ass with the comment "As for the security incident, I didn't see it, so I can't comment, ..."? Is not commenting on something one didn't see suddenly sphincter-verbal related? Mike, please explain. -G. Rex
Actually Jose, at the last game against the Metros everything was great. Not one single incident. People even posted on the boards how great the atmosphere was that night. I know I had a blast in the Barra that night. And we didn't do anything different last night. You are right in the fact that there was tension from the beginning last night. And I could see it build. But there was no talking to that guy(I tried). Anyway, I think it sucks to have to dump all this crap onto Steve Zacks lap again. He goes out of his way to stick up for us and I'm sure he's getting tired of it. I know I am. I like Red&Blacks suggestion to have a meeting with the CSC. I for one would be happy to represent my Barra Brothers and put this issue to rest once and for all.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Attn: Steven Zach - Security nazis strike again I was specifically referring to the crap about the security guy trying to enforce the rules by making people not stand in the aisles and making people put out cigarettes. The message made it seem as if the guy was just trying to do his job. He wasn't. He was trying to piss people off and it worked.
