FYI to all the Dish Network subscribers like me out there: we may end up NOT having the rest of the FA Cup or the Euro 2004 PPV available. According to Oliver Tse at SoccerTV.com, "Setanta is having trouble negotiating a contract with DISH Network." I thought it would be great to get as many fellow subscribers as possible to email DISH and ask them to make these PPV soccer events available: http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/aboutus/contact_us/index.asp
I find it hard to believe that Dish Network would not have the rest of the FA Cup as they have been advertising it on all of the Big Soccer Radio/World Soccer Weekly programs. That is a paid advertisement by Dish Network. Why would they offer subscriptions if they didn't have a contract?
What?!! Oliver Tse is spreading alarming news!!?! OMG! He's cried wolf before, such as when he claimed that the Champions League would not be on ESPN2 this spring and that RAI International would be moved off of their 119-degree satellite. Maybe it's true, but I'm not gonna get worked up about it because chances are, everything will be fine.
Dishnetwork Dishnetwork will have FA Cup finals for sure. They haven't told us that they will not be carrying Euro 2004. As for Oliver, cut him some slack. Situations change especially in the TV biz. I think generally he does a good job and provides a really useful service.
Re: Attention: DISH NETWORK customers! FA Cup PPV I called Dish Network and the rep said they're only gonna have the Sunderland/Millwall semifinal on April 4 (according to this rep they will NOT have the ManU/Arsenal semi on April 3rd).
I sent an e-mail to their attention indicating my desire to have this option available via pay per view. Please do the same and encourage others, even if they're not soccer fans but DISH customers, to do the same. Cheers, Fonsos
HELLO! I know someone else mentioned this, but I paid for the FA CUP PPV package on DISH that I'm stuck watching the Sunderland v. Milwall game on Suday, as opposed to the *real* matchup of The Arse v. The Scum on Saturday? What ********ing idiot set this up? I've already complained to both entities with no reply. Who should I contact at DISH? This is the last time I buy the FA Cup PPV package if they cannot get the scheduling correct.
Are you kidding? The Arse x Scum game is owned by Setanta. You didn't pay enough for the PPV package to get this game. This game is only available in pubs. That's a prime occasion to make loads of $$$ from the suckers... http://www.setanta.com/sport/Schedules_Northamerica.htm
As Long as i have my MLS shootout package or direct kick as i think its called now, im good! FA...what?
Yeah man, saw that long time ago. Actually I did pay "enough" b/c I bought the whole FA CUP package from the start. Still doesn't make me happy. The bottom line is that Setanta has no problem F U C K I N G us US satellite subscribers over, epsecially those who live in areas that don't have a pub/bar that is showing the game. I called Setanta and told them that it's a 3 hour drive to the nearest pub to see these "exclusive" matches and that they should have a "blackout" policy in effect whereby the people who live in an area with a pub say within 100 miles can't see it on satellite. Anyone else outside that 100 mile radius can. Makes sense eh? No more of my hard earned $$$ for them. I've learned my lesson with the Eng. v Turkey game and now this. **********! The only way Setanta will change their policy if if they take it in the pocketbook. I think it's the duty of US football fans who have Dish or Direct to NOT patronize the pubs and instead send Setanta an complaint email telling them they lost another $15, $25, etc... that's the only way it will change.
got an email from a buddy who called Setanta in S.F. They claim that DISH NET "IS", that's right "IS", showing the MAN U v ARSENAL game at 10am on PPV. He told me the Setanta rep said, when told DISH didn't have it in their schedule, "the game will be on, they just don't know it yet." ? It is very odd that it's on every other PPV satellite service, and not DISH.. Well, we'll see on Sat. at 10am ET.
The whole "Sentana wants it shown only in the pubs" argument makes no sense for this game. It will be on at 4am in Denver. There won't be a single bar showing it, and I doubt there will be too many across the country, with the possible exception of the east coast. I would have bought it on DISH and recorded it on my PVR, if that option was available. Guess I have to wait until Sunday to see it for free on FSW.
Nope. We were the only ones who didn't and I never got a straight answer from anyone at Setanta or DISH about why not. Setanta claims that DISH had access to it, all they had to do was put it up. DISH had already committed to showing the Chelski v. Tott. game as part of their EPL PPV package from 8:30-10:30am (CST) so I'm guessing they didn't want to open up another satellite channel for the Man U v Aresenal game, even though most of my friends in town watched it live at 5:30am, and DISH didn't have anything on at that time. The bottom line is that it was DISH's fault for not being flexible with their scheduling.
If you want a response write an email to Charlie Ergen. I think it's charlie.ergen@echostar.com. You can find the spelling of his name on the echostar/dish website. I emailed him once and got an overwhelmingly postiive response...Charlie is the CEO by the way.
Also, Charlie Chat is scheduled for Monday night at 9pm EDT on channel 101. For those who are unfamiliar with the Charlie Chat, Charlie Ergen takes calls and e-mails live on the air. Sounds like it may be time to call and ask about why Man United-Arsenal wasn't carried. Gonzo
Well, looks like we're back on track for Euro 2004 PPV: http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/programming/ppv/sports_events/soccer/index.shtml
