Saturday afternoon, after the US game and after Nick and Bob talked up the 2003 Metros, a number of Empire Supporters Club members got together for an open, honest discussion about the club itself - things that we're doing well, things that we could be doing well but aren't yet, and ideas for ways to build our numbers and our presence. It was, to put it mildly, a huge success. Clearly there's a lot of members out there with untapped ideas and energy, and it would be shame to let that momentum fade away. That's why we're starting up the ESC members discussion list, at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Metros_ESC/ If you're an ESC member and you want a voice in the way the club runs, or you have ideas to make things better, we want you there. It's your supporters club, so why not participate in it? (even if its just a little) Those who stuck around at the back of Nathan Hale's for the meeting certainly heard some real good ideas we can work on right now; those who weren't there will want to put their two cents in, and make this season something special off the field. Bigsoccer is great for a lot of things, but it's not the place to be carrying on this kind of internal discussion: there's nothing like a sock puppet or a troll to pop up and spoil a perfectly good discussion. That's why this list is the way to go - at least until the next ESC get-together. If you're not yet an ESC member but you're interested, head over to www.empiresc.com and get yourself enrolled...then come on and join the discussion. Just a couple basic ground rules as you sign up: Please try to give your full name if you have some obscure email address that doesn't identify you, so we can match you up to the members list - it'll make it that much easier to pick off any troll problems before they start. Please keep the discussions somewhat serious and supporters club-related....Bigsoccer boards are good for all our in-jokes, match reports and general silliness...no one wants a bunch of emails of THAT everyday. (Note! You can get this list in digest form. I recommend it.) Please be respectful of your fellow supporter, whether you agree with their ideas or not.
