Re: Re: Re: Attendance: Week 24

We had something similar in KC when Gunther Cunningham coached the Chiefs. They would play an answer he gave at the post game press conference and the contestant would have to guess what the question was. It almost makes me wish Gunther was still the coach.

It looked nothing like 13200 last night. I would guess it was the smallest crowd of the season.... around 7000.

THis is a serious post.. not fake. The crowd was really into it htough last night which made it a fun atmosphere. finally.

remember it was 13,200 tickets SOLD, not people who actually came to the game.

that meands that 6500 people bought tickets for this game, either by walking up or by ticketbastard. These are not bad numbers... I would say it looked like 9- 10 thou last night

    Good crowd in Columbus Saturday.....

From the Dispatch: "....With almost 20,000 tickets sold as of yesterday for the game in 22,555-seat Crew Stadium...."

BTW..I was at the Revs match...looked like alot more than 7,000...13K doesn't surprise me at all.....

    I would expect a sell-out in Columbus.

I'd be suprised if Columbus doesn't sell out this one.

I'm predicting a sell out in Columbus.

It will occur sometime AFTER kenntomasch has lunch today.

I'm back. Wendys? Mmmmmmmm. No, but maybe soon.

I would be surprised if I didn't take a nap at some point. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and predict that right now.

i'd have to imagine pretty good, they need (as of press time for that story) less than 3k walk ups... i'd imagine that they normally do near that for a day with decent weather

stupid, pointless predictions based on the fact I'm bored and about to leave work:

    LA: 18,721
    Clb: 22,291
    KC: 13,292
    DC: 14,611
    Col: 13,801

    Avg: 16,543

Today's Columbus Dispatch is reporting tonight's game with be a standing room only crowd for the first sell out of the season. The weather has been in the lower 80s and very cool at night, this is probably the main factor for the large crowd tonight.

Too bad this isn't the one they're putting on ESPN2...a packed Crew Stadium, beautiful pitch, someone has to break the 3 win hex...

What? A great crowd and interesting game and ESPN/MLS don't show it?

    No way!

Damn them for not knowing there would be a great crowd and an interesting game in March when they scheduled it!

Ever occur to you that it might not be an SRO crowd if the game was at 4pm?

24,422 in Columbus, it was just announced during the radio broadcast. It is the 2nd largest crowd ever for a Crew game.

    1) Crew attendance has always been high at their last games. We had our last games almost sold out before 9-11. Last games have always drawn well. I know this, MLS should know this. And now that I mention it, so should you.

    2) I would put money on Columbus still selling out, even if the game was at 4pm. Still a better product to display on ESPN. You know, fans in the seats and such, too.
