How many midweek home games did each team have? In San Jose we had only two, which seems less than typical.

Not sure how adding three more games would help reduce midweek games.

Maybe he means adding 3 weeks to the regular season but that would mean more winter games.

I guess along with the midweek games affecting the attendances over the rest of the season we also have to take into account the seasonal weather, which has hit the east coast hard tonight.

When I first saw a weekly highlight show about the Premier League (1995), the Bradford City Bantams were in the top flight. So were Wimbledon, but this edition is a different outfit, as Wimbledon's owners decided to move the team to Milton Keynes.

I went to a Wimbledon game in the top-flight in April 1992. Attendance was 4,196.

Yes add the weeks you play so if that means an extra 3 weeks in winter

They already are pushing the bounds of what they can realistically play in winter, and there are also agreements with the players union regarding the length of time off in the offseason.

I think I saw a top-flight game today where there were less than 1,500 :)

It looks like NYCFC/MLS finally got the message.

We don't want to go to Chelsea Jersey.

Wow they were going to play the last match of the season at Red Bull? That's usually a well attended one for most teams.

Helps when both NY MLB teams are out of playoff contention.

Updated with the week end, sans NYC/TFC, reporting.

279,202 puts total attendance at 9,444,271. Average at 21,912.

    https://soccerstadiumdigest.com/2023-mls-attendance/

62 matches left, including the aforementioned NYC match. We need 1,401,729 from those matches. 22,609 per.

2 midweek matches this week. One in Colorado. Plus the NYC unreported will be horrific. Sea & Clt away and no match for ATL. Miami at home.

    Probably another slightly subpar week.

Or, the Fire play Miami in a 1,401,729 seat stadium and we hit our mark!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

    The latest articles:

Lionel Messi Drives MLS Record Ticket Revenue for Chicago Fire
    https://sports.yahoo.com/lionel-mes...r_PtgegxReMlcJ9Q3778ATF33bDqKskH&guccounter=2

And there is this piece of journalistic diarrhea
(fortunately it is paywalled, so you all don't have to read it, but it is basically the same article only as the above one, but with some idiocy tossed in for bad measure)

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...e-turns-to-messi-to-boost-stagnant-soccer-bet
Chicago Billionaire Turns to Messi to Boost Soccer Bet

Owning a Major League Soccer franchise is not a "bet."
Fire owner Joe Mansueto did not "turn to" Messi or anyone.

The Fire suck, their attendance sucks. Those are definite facts.
That the "Messi match" drops into our laps during our worst run of form in years (and for as bad as the Fire have been the last decade plus, that is really saying something), the Fire have done everything in their power to leverage the match.

Short of "turning to" Messi to "boost" a "bet," the Fire have taken full advantage of something frankly we don't deserve and turned it into a positive.
