I'm suggesting we do something a little different this week. Let's have one thread about predictions, and news about promotions. And then after the games, a thread about the numbers.
Great idea; just what BS needs, a 2nd thread about the week's attendence. :| Things are done for a reason, leave it the way it was. If you don't want to wade through pages of predictions and other crap, go to MLSnet.com and look at the boxscore to get the actuals with out the crap.
yes i understand that i can get them from other places but fact remaisn id like to see a little discussion along with it about the actuals, withouth having to read everyone's impression of Miss Cleo.
Well, here's my .02 cents then: No game at KC this week, so no promotions to talk about there, although they are having a giveaway on wednesday's night game. LA at NE is the ESPN game this week, so I would imagine you'll see a similar crowd at the game next week. 12-14k DC at NY is Freekick Magazine and Kohl's Coupons giveaway night, nothing world-changing there, so look for similar attendance to last week 10-13k CO at CBUS, i'm not aware of any events for this game, CBUS fans could maybe give some more info... Chicago and Dallas are both known quantities, not 100% sure what Naperville's capacity is now. The game has sold out, but I am not aware of if they have capacity up to 15k yet, can they get the auxilliary bleachers in for this weekend's game?
Last week was a doubleheader w/ the Breakers. However, fans may have been waiting for the rematch w/ the Galaxy. One other comment about Foxboro: The field continues to look like complete crap.
And it's been playing like crap too. Last year the mantra of the Razor ground crew was function before beauty, because even though it didn't look the greatest sometimes, they did an excellent job of keeping a playable surface. It seems that this year they've had a hard time getting the grass to recover from the winter freeze, and the pitch seems pretty bumpy and difficult.
Yeah, one extra thread a week is going to ruin everything. Look, either the idea will be popular and continue, or it won't and it will die.
I love the idea. The attendance threads have been bogged down by too many pages of predictions and complaining about predictions, when many people are just trying to find out the attendance results and then some analysis of them. Under superdave's proposed system, if you want both - read both threads. One, then the other. Seems simple enough.
7700, thats the max???? i had no idea its THAT small. seriously, thats pretty pathetic for a 'Major League' team.
It's only because it's still track season at NCC. Once track is over they can add the rest of the stands and bring capacity up to 15k.
Some good news today from Rev land. The US Portugal game is to be officially announced this week. The Revs will be smartly moving their game on June 8th (a 4:00pm game on a Sunday that would have drawn maybe 14,000 with good weather), to June 5th, as part of a double header with the US - Portugal game. Some are expecting a full sell out. I won't go that far, but a 50,000 crowd should be achievable and will be a nice boost to MLS attendance. Andy
Somehow it brings a chuckle from me when a game that would normally draw 14,000 but will then receive 50,000 due to a Nats doubleheader and still be described as "MLS attendance." I obviously know this is the way it works, but it still sometimes strikes me as funny.
After 8 years now, it no longer strikes me as funny. Just how business is done in MLS. I would say it really does not matter since Kraft wins both ways no matter how you slice it. The USSF will take its cut and Kraft/MLS get the rest. Andy
