Let the flaming begin: Limited schedule this week. Should be an interesting time as College football takes center stage along with the NFL Season kicking off: Thursday: Metros at Dallas on ESPN2 Saturday: Columbus @San Jose DC @ New Engerland LA chicago
Thursday: Metros at Dallas ----- 9800 Saturday: Columbus @San Jose-- 13000 DC @ New Engerland-- 22000 LA @Chicago--------- 15900 Two Potential Sell outs with NE and Chicago. NE may open but I highly doubt this another section or two. If not for this game then I would hope they do definately do for the finale.
Chicago is already "virtually" sold out, and the stadium's capacity has been reduced (by how much, I don't know) because North Central College is back in school. That was part of the deal. So it won't be 15,900 unless there are a LOT of people standing around, but it's already a "virtual" sellout (or that's what they said the other day). Just MLS' luck, they move games to Thursday in September, and then the NFL decides to have its season opener on Thursday night. And one of the two teams involved is from New York.
If you are going to be a regular poster on the Attendance thread please know that capacity at Cardinal Stadium is 15,500 with Standing room of 200-300. The game the Fire had 15,900 was oversold and met the ire of the Naperville Fire Department. Given that, the attendance should be 15,734. Metros at Dallas - 11,232 Columbus at SJ - 10,749 DC at NE - 15,094
I'm aware of the capacity of the stadium. My "predictions" are tongue-in-cheek, based on the Week 24 thread conclusion that 20,350 in each of the last 15 games would give MLS a 16,000 season average. Surely, the Naperville fire department would look the other way for such a noble goal? Alternatively, perhaps people driving by the stadium during the game could be counted in the attendance? Students in dorms? Students enrolled this semester? San Jose Earthquake fans, who are already packing to move? Maybe it will LOOK like 20,350 on TV?
Yes, I knew this. Since the Metros and Giants play in the same stadium, it would be unlikely that it would be in East Rutherford. But it's still unlucky for MLS that on a weeknight when there's usually not a whole lot else going on (Thursday is often, but not always, a travel day for weekend sets in baseball), as everyone says would be just ducky for the league, only the biggest league there is decides to play on that night as well. That's all. John Galt, you got there before I could stick up for you. It was obvious you were kidding. At least to me.
Re: Chi attendance they have removed around 1000 seats behind the two goals for the ncc football team, i'm not sure if this will mean that they allow more standing room only tickets or not (just place them where the stands use to be) the removed portions will go up to the walk way in each of the goal-side stands my money says 14.5-15k for the fire
Re: Re: Chi attendance They have removed 1608 seats. The number of seats is currently 12498. I'd guess a little over 14k.
Re: Re: Re: Chi attendance Good information feuerfex, thanks. I have five tickets for that match, as well, if anyone's interested.
it looked like there was more on the side with the cameras, but you guys couldn't see that side at home, so you will have to take my word on it
I'll add something new here and point out that it definitely looked less than that on TV. Plus, it was a pretty ugly game. Not really Dallas' fault, though, with all those games in such a short time. Good crowd for a Sidekicks match, though.
Speaking of the Sidekicks, Tatu is going to retire. He was awsome back in the day when I used to follow indoor soccer.
No kidding. I thought his bones would be on display at a museum of natural history. Or maybe at the Hall of Fame in Oneonta.
