I guess you didn't read the whole thing then, because some how by the time they got to the bottom of the page the attendance grew by 1,000

I am sticking with 35,144, because that's what BBC reported and CNNSi reported 35,000 for the USA game too. Also, Socceramerica.com reported the double header as 35,144.

Oh yeah, good for you, but the only one that counts is FIFA and they have 34,114.

Hahaha! What did they do count the number of people that left after the US vs Sweden game. Yeah right, that makes sense.

But, keep up the good work! ;)

    Nice turnout in Portland.

I was disappointed in the Foxboro "crowd". These matches featured a number of WUSA favourites.

There was a good crowd of nearly 200 S. Korean fans that took over seats at midfield behind the team benches. They never stopped making noise for the 90 minutes.

    Quarterfinal Attendance?

Anyone know what level ticket sales have been? Will Foxboro have more than 40,000 tonight?

Very disappointing turnout at Gillette tonight. I commented to my wife that the rain we had this morning would mean the difference between a crowd of 25K or 35K. Sadly, I was too right.

A myriad of factors: school night, cool, damp weather with a threat of rain, and the games on TV. Also, I did not see the event promoted locally. Still, this is the USWNT and likely the last time we'll see this cast of characters, including Hopalong Chastain, together in New England.

Watching the game live, with a nearby TV showing the ESPN2 broadcast was a great demonstration of what you miss by not being at the game. The off-the-ball runs and creative play gets missed too often. If you are on the fence about going to the games in Portland tomorrow and Sunday - GO!!!

For some reason Gillette's Attendance is down this year for all soccer games.

By the way, why was the Stadium Field set at only 105 yards length, is that due to football?

Width was fine, as it was 75 yards.

I think US would have done better with headers and crosses had the field been set at 110-115 yards in length.

I think that they sacrificed length for extra width.

The field is actually 106 yds. long. If you look, the top of the penalty area is on the 15-yard line. OTOH, the field was 76 yds. wide.

I don't see what the length has to do with "headers and crosses". The width is a much bigger factor.

From early on, witness Wambach's 5th minute header off the crossbar, the US dominated the Norwegian penalty area.

None of which has anything to do with attendance. Let's hope the Rose City does well tonight.

Oh I am sorry :) I said the field size was 105x75 yards. ( i think it should have been 110x74 and not as you said 106x76 yards)

By the way , extra length increases the distance between players (Forwards) and the goal keeper during the in coming of balls from the center of the field, hence creating higher % of scoring chances.

It's often easy to over hit the ball on a shorter length field, hence making it easier for ball to be in reach goal keeper than the Forward. Players get used to playing on a fields ( average field length USA played before this game was 112-115 in this WWC, and it's hard to adjust in 2 days for
    a single game)

20,000+ expected tonight in Portland with a large number of Canadians coming down to the game. Sunday's games could be close to the 28,000 capacity. Should look great on tv and even better in person.
