As of today i will star track the attendance of any Bwin games that have one of the big three in them. Then we will be able to compaire real data and see who the fans in Portugal rather see, is it benfica, Porto or Zbortem.

Considering benfica plays the team that Zbortem faced in the previous week, on a week by week basis we will be able to at least see the difference between these 2 clubs.

Same day same weather....only 10,000 people less than the derby...not too shaby when we are playing last team!!!

so far I found #s up to 2004-05 but I'm assuming they don't include away games (just home)

The site ferreirajl posted gives you home average only! I want to see the overall average, home and away.

My point is that attendance is just not home, but also when the team travels. The following of a team cannot be just looked at by home numbers but away as well.

So lets just see, week after week the numbers...

When was the last time Porto packed any visiting stadium?

Once again...these are based on home alone, not away as well. I wanna see the totals of both.

Because the attendance a club drives away from home is very important.

For example i am from Nazare. I have to pay $40 euros for a ticket for a game at Luz, $20eu for the bus trip, etc....its cheaper for me to go see them at Leiria, Coimbra etc.....from an economics prespective this is important.

using the #s from this site http://www.soccerstats.com/2khcrowd.asp?league=portugal&rankby=1 and adding the #s which include the away games for Porto and Benfica here's what I found:

Porto's games average in the 7 games (yes, it includes the away Sporting- Porto game and Porto has had 3 home games): 23,080

Benfica's average in the 6 games (no derby played yet but includes figures from the 3 home games they have had so far): 21,101

Keep in mind benfica has also one game less than Porto and Sportem....so its only 6 games for us, and like u said no classic.

    But nice work!:)

This is all vary nice. This does not take in consideration what teams each has faced. Some teams have had games that are naturally bigger draws. By mid of this season, Im expecting that there will not be vary many posts in hear because Benfica will take over in total home attendance. We have been through this before. A few times actually.

also and don't forget that when the classics happen the #s will help both teams involved in it so it will be a wash... ;)

Actually no, I think the team that has the stadium with bigger seat capicity (assuming both games are sold out) will benifit.Right.;)

I think this will give us a better idea of what team gets more fans to the games.

Eurodad, they all end up facing eachother, so at the end the result will be very accurate.

in a Benfica-Porto game the attendance from that game will not only be counted as for Benfica's Home game #s but will reflect for Porto's away games as well, makes sense no?
