I like cheese! Oh, wait a second... I think I got it! Much "Adu" about nothing! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my god is that funny. Because--it's like Shakespeare... but with Freddy Adu's name in place of the word "ado". Get it? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, god--that is funny. I wonder why nobody thought of that before...
Just watched Fox news in the morning and they had a Freddie Adu segement with a birthday cake honoring little Freddie for turning 15. They also mentioned that a record crowd is expected. So I am saying 35k.
DC's more trouble than that. It doesn't matter who's on the team. Chicago - 2 DC - 2 Oh waitaminute, this is the attendance prediction thread. Ok: attendance - More than expected. I'm certain of that!
FWIW, so far the average is 12K higher than normal attendance if the visiting team is DCU (and Adu) than with any other team in MLS.
This is certainly misleading because Chicago's attendance always jumps at this point in the season, Adu or not. So while there will be an Adu jump, the jump we see tomorrow probably isn't even half because of Adu.
It's not misleading at all. I have no idea what Chicago's attendence will be for the game and afterwards. What I do know is: --when you compare team attendance for cities DCU visits BEFORE that match and then AFTER than match; --and then look at attendance for the DCU match (and this includes games when Adu was not starting and no guarantee of being a sub or evening being on the sub list); --the games that involve DCU (versus any other visiting team) draw 12K more fans per match. There are a bunch of teams (Colorado and I believe Metro and San Jose) that have season highs--even more than their openers--when DCU visits. To put it another way, looking only at road attendance (forgetting any preseason publicity Adu generated for MLS like the 60 minutes interview or being on MTV, any TV viewership increases or any increased DCU attendance), the kid paid for his $500K MLS salary in ticket sales sometime around this 3rd or 4th road game.
A huge coincidence here. For the last two days I have seen license plates with "Adu" on it. Yesterday was in Queens. Today was in the Hamptons.
