Not really. For a comparison on what ticket sales could be like, you'd probably want to look at home many were sold for matches against Necaxa or Santos Liguna. There won't be 20k+ for a midweek match against a bottom of the table Mexican team. The only Mexican teams that could draw would be Chivas or America...hell, even the All-Star game against Chivas didn't really sell out last year.
My memory is that Lalas Hill was opened for that game and there were 1500 to 2000 people up there. A sell-out (officially 27K) was reported. Why do you say that? Otherwise agree completely. Doogie, please don't foist another MFL team on us for our bonus internationals!!! Here they had Hannover in town and treated it as a scrimmage!
Cuz there were still a ton of empty seats available. I haven't see a sell-out that was announced more than 24 hours before KO or that really even looked like a true sell out.
I don't think that this game would sell more tickets than an MLS home game the Galaxy average well over 20k per game. If it's a weekday game they will be lucky to get 10k for it. I hope it's not a bonus game as I'm looking forward to seeing something better than that. No Real Madrid, maybe they can get someone on the Champions World tour to stop out for a game. The only teams playing anywhere on the West Coast are Chelsea and Celtic (w/o Larson).
How quickly everyone here forgets that we as residents of Los Angeles only care about Mexican/Latin teams and soccer. That is why we get no US games and that is why the Champions Tour is passing us by. I mean afterall, who would want to go see the Galaxy take on Celtic or Chelsea or even AC Milan for that matter? Not me of course... I have gone to one international match the Galaxy has held. Anyone want to venture a guess? It was Kevin Hartmann's coming out party...

Man, that seems like forever ago. All I remember about that game was sitting next to a bunch of really cool, drunk Villa fans. When the Galaxy went up 1-0, they started singing, "Sh1t on the Villa. Sh1t on the Villa, tonight." (to the tune Roll Out Barrell) and we were all just busting up. Then Villa tied it 1-1 and without missing a beat the whole group switched to "Cheer on the Villa! Cheer on the Villa tonight!" and whooping it up for their team. Good times, good times. Back when I was skinny and poor... Course, I'm still poor...
The fact that the Galaxy plays so many games against international competition is one of the reasons I like the team.
