This is a match-up of the club we could have been against, well, the clown show that is Tottenham Hotspur. Playing in the shadow of La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, Atléti have found the formula for success, without bullshitting their fans with excuses that they can't compete. Over the last 15 seasons, they have backed their manager, Diego Simeone, who has won 2 league titles, 1 Spanish cup, 2 Europa Leagues, and 2 Uefa Supercups. They have also reached 2 CL finals over that span. They have maintained their level of excellence despite moving into a new stadium (sound familiar?). We have had 12 managers in the last 15 seasons. This season has been no different - the Madrid outfit sit 3rd in La Liga and have advanced to the final of the Copa del Rey after seeing off Barca in the semis. As for Spurs, Spence is a̶v̶a̶i̶l̶a̶b̶l̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶y̶e̶d̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶p̶o̶s̶i̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ back in training, as is Dragusin. Vdv and Romero are available for selection. Bissouma and Souza are ineligible as they were not registered for the knockout phase.
My prediction: Romero to play a blinder in this game, put himself in the shop window, then pick up a yellow vs. Liverpool for another suspension.
As long as the club keep signing the kind of players a lot of our supporters rate, including many on this forum, you know, the Tels, the Odoberts, the Grays, the Bergvalls, the Souzas, we are never going to see any of the academy players in the first team.
That didnt take long. We concede yet another daft goal after Kinsky gives the ball away from a goal kick. Dumb ********ing jackass.
Clearly this dolt of a manager doesn`t fancy Simons, but without him, we have nobody who can keep the ball. We are being smothered in the opening minutes.
Should have listened to your head. As Rob Gordon from High Fidelity said “I beginning to think my gut has shit for brains”. see y’all Sunday for the next humiliation.
Vdv was lucky not to get sent off for a wild challenge with the studs. Our players have completely lost the plot.
