    A Canadian in Friuli?

The multinational Udinese could soon add another "small flag", if the judgments from their scouts after the U-20 World Championships convince Luciano Spalletti to give a chance to the young Canadian midfielder, Atiba Hutchinson, already protagonist of the last Gold Cup and impressive in the recent competition in the UAE.

Born in 1983, in Brampton, Ontario, Hutchinson began his young career with the Toronto Lynx and then landed in Europe in September of 2002. In Sweden, first with Elfsborg and then with Oster, he has demonstrated a good technical ability, the display window of the U-20 WC has then done the rest.

"Clubs interested in Hutchinson include Italian Serie A side Udinese. There is also a team in Portugal, three in France, three in Germany, a couple in Denmark, "almost every team in Sweden" and one in Major League Soccer in the U.S., according to agent Barry MacLean."

This is shaping up to be perhaps the greatest ever bidding war for a young Canadian soccer player. :)

    Re Udinese

Atiba is now confimed to be back with Olser after holding a trial with Udinese it appears it did not go well however rumors are circulating that Modena is a team he is currently looking at or my have signed but no offical news on or if he has direct interest in going to Modena. But It has been mentioned in other forums that possibly that there may some sort of rumors that he has signed with Modena or has expressed trying out for the Modena team. I am sure if that is the case it will soon to come out by the press.

as per 3rddegree.net, Hutchinson is a possible target of MLS' Dallas Burn.

One of my MSN buddies is an Udinese fan. I asked her about Atiba, and she said that there was no sign of him there. Maybe it wasn't successful.

The trial did not pan out. He also showcased his stuff for Moscow Saturn, who were interested by Atiba turned them down as he didn't think it the right opportunity for him. There are other clubs in the hunt - some in Europe and apparently 3 MLS teams have spoken with his agent (Burn, DC and Galaxy). We will see inthe next few days I suppose.

Did I say next few days? I meant next few hours :)

Atiba signs 3 year deal with Helsingborg's of the Swedish Top Flight.

Helsingborg's head coach Peter Swärdh said that they've been following Atiba over the whole last year and he was satisfied to get "an exciting player" to the team. "He's got both attacking and defensive qualities, but most of all a great potential". "Hopefully he'll take another step with Helsingborg. We will bcome a better team."
