    Time: 3pm (ct)
Place: Section 20. I mean, Soccer Park
Opponent: Traffic cones that won the cup last year. *sigh*
Other important info: This will be a special night because it will be for the Susan G Koman Race for the cure. The Athletica will be wearing special uniforms for the occasion and we will be out in full force in our green and pink! I'm breaking out a pink and black bikini for the game. Green with pink for this one!
Weather: between 73-76 and cloudy with rain in the south.

They beat us to get to the championship. I hate them. I hate them.

Start the mean chants now... I'm ready. Or start actual conversation... whichever.

Watch this video like Blanka in Street Fighter if you have to. Watch it until your skin turns green and you yell in rage. That should have been us. And how do we make them pay? Sunday, my friend, Sunday...

Blanka from Street Fighter (for those that do not know) looks like this.

Which is exactly how I'm going to look the next time we play Sky Blue if they beat us Sunday. Just saying...

naw, little puff wasn't scared of ya. I actually was quite amazed by her. I expected her to be super shy and clingy the whole match.

Asante is active for the game, but I doubt that she will start. Miyama is away on national team duty. The other inactives are Spisak (3rd keeper), Walter, and Larsen (disabled list).[LINEUP-4-4-2]Tarpley, Aluko, DiMartino, Boxx, Blank, Chalupny, Weber, Ellertson, Fletcher, Elaine, Solo[/LINEUP-4-4-2]

Most likely, we'll see Asante some time in the 2nd half.

Kai, Rampone, Schnur, Branam, and Lloyd are still out for Jersey. Bardsley has been a hot keeper. They have a lot of height with Landström, Dowling, and Averbuch. They've only scored 4 goals this season, 2 by Kai (who's injured), an own goal by Atlanta, and one by Kalmari.

We need to win this. It's a home game. We haven't lost a regular season home game since last June. We need to avenge last season's playoff loss (we do still hold the edge against them 3 games to 1). They have been outshot 92-43 this season. Hopefully, we're the team that starts putting some of those shots in the net and not in Bardsley's arms and high and wide. We faced Bardsley once last year and won that game 1-0.

OK, piping in as a FCGP fan--but one who really likes and respects the Athletica--you guys need to take it to them, because I've already called in another forum that the FCGP will be hosting the Athletica for the WPS Championship. Good luck this weekend!

    All support is welcome!

Whatever you can say about Sky Blue, they have turned in some pretty gritty performances considering all the players they're missing. The scary thing is they haven't played particularly well, they get outshot every game, they have trouble scoring and they're sitting in 2nd place. When Kai, Schnur, Rampone, and Lloyd get back, how good will they be. I would have mentioned Branam, but it's hard to imagine her playing much better than Bardsley has (with the possible exception of the first Gold Pride match).

But as for the orange jerseys....I turn to a quote from the movie Caddyshack...

Al Czervik: Oh, this is the worst-looking hat I ever saw. What, when you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh?
[looks at Judge Smails, who's wearing the same hat]
Al Czervik: Oh, it looks good on you though.

Just substitute soccer kit for hat and Sky Blue for Judge Smails and you've got it.

it seems they've always had more luck than anything else. without kai they don't even have anyone to score goals, so the other team offers them an own goal. WTF is that?

bardsley's been amazing though, and unless she takes a tumble, i'm gonna be disappointed if they immediately put Branam back in goal

Surprisingly to me at least, looking at the Saint Louis press notes for tomorrow's match, Asante is listed as a probably starter, Fletcher is on the bench. I'm surprised about both sides of that, but we'll see. The game notes are occasionally wrong. They did get Jersey's record wrong, as did a writer for the Globe-Democrat website.

Another crappy game day weather forecast:

    68 degrees and thundershowers.

I was looking back to last year's matches against Sky Blue. We outscored them 4-2 over the four matches. Three of the games ended up 1-0, with us winning all but the playoff match and then we won a 2-1 match up in Jersey.

    Last year's goal scorers:
    Athletica-Aluko 2, Weber 1, Cinalli 1.
    Sky Blue-Sitch 1, Dowling 1.

It was the only goal of the year for Weber, Sitch, and Dowling. Interesting that SB's only goalscorers were primarily known as defensive players. Nothing from Kai, Rosana, O'Reilly, or White. Let's hope we shut their forwards and midfield down as well tomorrow.
