But I think the takers are assigned though. When Vini is on the pitch it's he who gives the ball to others or takes them himself. Now it's Mbappe doing that. what you want perhaps is Jude swapping places with Mbappe and being in charge of taking penalties instead of Mbappe.
this really isn't hard, CA simply needs to say Jude takes the penalties if he is on the pitch. If Jude isn't on the pitch he can say who he wants to do it, but it really shouldn't be the guy who lacks confidence.
No this is actually what the board and the coaching staff want. They want the guy who lacks confidence to take the penalties to see if it'll kick-start him
Then we are in agreement. It's one thing what Carlo portrays in the media and another what we actually see on the pitch. Right now it's very clear that Mbappe is the assigned penalty taker. What we all want is for Jude to be the assigned penalty taker. I think that's what will happen now. We aren't QSG, Jude has probably got the penalty kick duties until Mbappe works up some level of form.
I'll repeat, what manager wants to come here and embarrass himself with a squad that isn't complete and a CF that refuses to put in a shift? The only coach who would do that is someone who wants to get sacked and take a payout. We should stick with CA and hope he makes the adjustment -- assign penalty taker and put Mbappe on a much shorter leash.
0-0 was the result at Half time vs: Barca Liverpool Athletic Bilbao We are usually much better team in 2nd half then the 1st… most our goals are in the 2nd. Yet, this season nothing works
I hope Carlo had the balls to play this starters: TC Fede - Asencio - Rudiger - Mendy Brahim - Cama - Jude Mbappe - Endrick - Vini
Because it was Tchouameni's first game after the 1 month injury..must play the full 90..because yeah..are you going to teach Carlo about subs when he's made +3,000? But riddle me this: why was a defensive LB introduced before the only attacker on the bench in a game that we were chasing and had to win?
Clear as day this guy over marinated in Ligue 1. It's quite mind boggling the club didn't move on after 2022.
I missed the first half of the game so I'm rewatching lol. The subs especially were bizzare. I thought Ceballos played well. The reality is Carlo is on auto-pilot when it comes to subs. He isn't going to pull the guys he trusts even if they're not playing that great while guys like Ceballos and Fran are expendable. I thought Tchou should have came off especially since he just came back from injury.
Every sofa stat graphic has multiple players cutting and cornering Fran, applying large amounts of pressure on him. Taking him off the game was the idea of unlocking that, having Athletic stick to man coverage there so the player that was constantly pulled to help Fran would have to do less of that. Right from the first minute Athletic attacked Fran as a weak spot just like teams did when Marcelo first started playing for us. Looking at the stats it was Bellingham that was relieving Fran Garcia. These are his touches while Fran Garcia is on the field: This is after Fran Garcia is off: Goes from focused on helping Fran Garcia to barely being there, scores a goal.
Don’t understand the people calling for Carlo to be sacked. This guy is our most successful coach - arguably ever. In a 120+ year history. The squad he has been given is hopeless. On top of that he has 3 starters out with ACL injuries, no midfield conductor, and our best player injured. Our losses in the league have been to Barca at home and Athletic club away. Right now we just need to dig in while the going is tough, grind out wins, stay in touching distance for the league and next round of the CL. I hope when we have some starters back by Feb we are playing better football and also in a better position to judge Carlo’s season. I would extend him again if it were up to me.
How would you know that? 1. It's not merely about the results, it's also about the disgraceful cowardly football on display. These subpar performances were a problem even before 2 out of those 3 ACLs. We struggled a lot against Sociedad, Stuttgart and Mallorca, barely created anything against Atletico, and lost to Lille. You can't pin this on missing a particular midfield profile. 2. Just LOL. If you like what you're seeing that's on you I guess.
Opta posted an image of three players hovering around Fran Garcia at the 5th minute of the game, with the caption "Athletic focusing on a weak spot". The majority of Fran Garcia's touches are those passes between him and Bellingham who constantly had to arrive back there to take pressure off of him. I'm not justifying or doing any kind of opinion thing here. It's clear Athletic focused heavy on Fran Garcia and others had to help him. When he got off the field it was addition by subtraction.
The thing people who want CA gone need to be able is his does the team improve? We have huge holes in the squad, a new coach won't change that.
There is the logic that says when you fire a coach you either improve just by getting him out of the building, or you have somebody coming in that improves the picture right away. People are calling for Zidane, but Zizou had Pintus sacked/Pintus left to go to Inter (to great success I might add), will need a completely new training staff. Just too many moving parts for 5 to 6 months. Carlo will finish the season and somebody else might potentially take over before the club World cup. Can't see anything else unless we're hiring somebody from a youth team of ours
