Yes, it would be the first time, if they allow it to happen.

Actually in the early 80's RiBer would have gone down but AFA changed the rules and instituted the averages in order to keep RiBer from going down. It will be interesting to see if they would change the rules again to protect RiBer.

riber have accomplished the unthinked ... regardless of the results in the next 2 rounds, riBer will start last in the relegation averages next semester. Only the newly promoted will start below them.

Central kept their 7 point cushion over riBer, and is alarming how Arsenal, Tigre and Huracan have slipped into the dangerous zone.

Racing and Godoy Cruz have created a small cushion over the rest, but are only 7 points away from the 2nd promotion spot that holds Central.

It will be dramatic next year, eight teams plus the newly promoted, that is half the 1ra league will have an eye on the promotion. the last 6 points this semester are going to be in-te-resting, starting with a 6 point game between Racing and River.

Last 2 rounds for all 8 teams:

    riBer: at Racing and Tigre

    Central: at Estudiantes and Velez

Arsenal: at Atl. Tucuman and Godoy Cruz

Gimnasia LP: at Newells and Atl. Tucuman

    Tigre: Banfield and at riBer

    Huracan: at Boca and Argentinos

Godoy Cruz: Colon and at Arsenal

    Racing: riBer and at Chacarita

RiBer has managed to sign a few good players. With Carrizo on goal and Pavone as striker, plus the return of Buonanotte, I would think their chances of going down are jeopardized.

    Oh, well...

However it may take a while for them to get out of the danger zone. For example if in the first round, two of the three recently promoted teams win their first match, they'll have an average of 3.000, leaving River at least on 19th place.

Well Vip was the one that made and posted the Descenso images, and he's been gone for a while. The easiest way to keep track of it is by visiting that link on Ole, since it's essentially the same thing.

If you want to take time to create the images each week, though, you are more than welcome to post them here.

As you all can see Gimnasia is in HUGE trouble ! a they are 8 points down on River who is clear of the promocion by 7 points on Huracan.. Quilmes and Oplimpo have their survival in their own hands . since they have less time in Primera they can escape the descenso w/ just a few wins and completely smash the big teams into descenso and promocion.. Logic would say they will not escape the descenso but it doesn't always work this way... time will tell..

Actually next year will be very interesting, with River, Independiente, Boca, Racing and San Lorenzo -all the big clubs- possibly near the bottom depending on how they do this season.

Of course, this assumes River or Independiente don't go down this season. :D

Very true. I have to admit I am very jealous of the wisdom of Ameal. With the hiring of Falcioni you guys are now poised to completely rule in Nacional B. :D
