I think he's saying pretty much the same as we've been saying most of the season ie the team has been negatively impacted by multiple injuries and new signings haven't bedded in as quickly as hoped. Where I disagree with Slot is while he may recognize the problems he's shown me nothing this season that he's capable of sorting out them . I think a better coach would have found solutions to stabilze the squad , given the team some kind of identity cos I have no idea what style we play any more and at a minimum tighten up and make us difficult to beat. Bottom line is I do not trust Slot to be the guy who has the vision to build a new powerhouse team at Liverpool or has the charisma to inspire it. .
He really has done a shockingly poor job this season. Recruiting errors and injuries have hobbled the team but I haven't seen anything Slot has done to mitigate it in any way. I know it's not the Liverpool way to ditch a manager so quickly but going into next season with him is a depressing prospect.
Uncalled for, if you ask me. He’s been part of the decline, was still being selected to play despite poor form.
I love it - his decline in form is in part due to age. It's not from being unprepared or unfit or lazy or anything untoward. he's telling the truth.
Parts of it yeah, I don't like the timing and disagree with heavy metal being the only way. Diffetent managers can win with their own styles. He better bring his A game, offensively and defensively next game. All hands on deck, including the tea lady.
He probably is telling the truth. I just think the platform is wrong. Just as it was in October, We’ve not suddenly become bad since then when he was pilloried for public statements.
We've remained bad (or bang average). I've partially jokingly posted in half the games that we're not a good team this season. I don't think I was wrong.
I'll retreat a bit here - the timing of the comments from Mo leave something to be desired - we are going to be talking about it all week now before the Brentford game - so yes a distraction. I hope it fires them up, however.
We are UNFIT team going through an unprecedented transition. Jota's death, too many new players in key positins, loss of form due to age, re occuring and season ending injuries, no back ups and hastily put together game plans, plus very, very unfit players who have lost confidence and mental toughness. So the Club's response to one final game to get a CL spot?, A 2 day Monaco trip to destress. I hope they save up enough energy for the next game!!!!!
Seriously? They are really in Monaco? I guess maybe it's a remove them from distractions type of thing. ... in Monaco.
Snark aside, CL is 100% in our hands, just effing win next Sunday and who gives a crap what those "B" teams do.
yep according to "the Kopite View" (which I can't recall seeing before). Following a highly frustrating defeat to Aston Villa, manager Arne Slot reportedly allowed the Liverpool squad to spend a two-day break in Monaco to mentally reset ahead of their final league fixture.
Like I said - maybe it's a "get away from it all" thing... and it's not like they will get fitter with 2 days extra of training giving they didn't do it all season.
It adds some credence to the thought that he and the squad can't stand to be in the same room together. .... which to be clear, is a thing I just made up.
I don't know , they sure won't get fitter in Monaco either. I think I'd prefer the manager using the extra time to drill his game plan into them and focus them on the job needing to get done.
I think he's lost the dressing room. It just may not be so bad as not wanting to be in the same room. More the football equivalent of quiet quitting.
Or maybe, he is trying to keep Mo away from those extra gym work he likes to tweet about, lol. I am so confused and mentallt drained myself, this season cannot end soon enough for me.
