Nil - Nil at the half. FSC analyst: "It's not pretty, but it's competitive." I can barely recognize the team. Different attitude. Different approach. Bullard is a machine out there. Great stuff from the new guys too. Several dangerous passing combinations. Baird and Murphy still don't belong out there. Shocking, I know... Here's hoping for a couple of goals in the 2nd half. Come on Fulham!
Hell yeah! Bullard's goal was great! Good to see McBride back on the pitch again too. If we continue to performance like this we'll be safe from relegation.
Yeah. I was hoping for a McBride goal, but the other half was like don't get hurt. Great goal by Jimmy B. He looked a little tired at times. I scared my kids when he scored.
STEVEN DAVIS went to Rangers. Not Simon Davies. If Simon Davies went anywhere, you should be saying "what the hell??"...he's the 2nd leading scorer for this team under Dempsey. Suuuuuuupeeeeer Fullhaaamm...Suuppperr Fuuulhaamm FC!
Where was Bocanegra today? Was it because he got called to the US team for the friendly against Mexico this Wednesday? McBride looked good when he got some touches. The 6'4" Norwegian Centerback is an Oak Tree back there, he may be taking Boca's job. With Bullard back and Johnson yet to make his impact I am confident Fulham can pull through and win some more this season. They beat IMHO a solid Villa team, they played smart in the back and looked organized going forward. Much improved over past weeks. Dempsey played well again. C'MON FULHAM!!!
Great win- We need results in a horrible way but this showing was more than just getting three points, the lads out played a very solid top half table Aston Villa. EJ was jet lagged and arrived in London on Saturday, there for he sat out and most expect him to play next week. How much he will play is still up in the air but I didn't see much from Nevland today to think McBride and EJ can't be more successful. Carlos was just taking a rest- he was on the sub bench- I don't know for sure that he has fallen out of favor so much as he just needs to gather himself and help make a push to get out of the bottom three. I didn't see enough of McBride to know how his game is coming along but it was really something special to just see him back on the pitch at the cottage. He will hopefully be fit enough next match to start with EJ at his side.
So much for not being able to play a full 90 minutes. Wow. The Fulham we've come to know this year would have rolled over after that first goal. There is something different about this team now that Bullard and McBride are back. The way they dug their heels in after that first goal and got the equalizer so quickly was just incredible. Some Grades: Jimmy Bullard - A+, Created the first goal, and scored the second on a brilliant free kick. Easily Man of the Match. Antti Niemi - A, Couldn't do anything about the own goal. Clint Dempsey - C+, He lacked pace and looked a bit lost against Bolton, and although today was an improvement he's got a ways to go. He lacks confidence right now. Paul Konchesky - D, Makes me NERVOUS every time he's on the ball. Another guy that lacks confidence. Aaron Hughes - D, Own goal overshadows three or four crucial tackles.
Great game today, hopefully we will survive. With Mcbride back, Bullard, Dempsey and are new transfers, we looked good, and looked like we can actually play some decent football, who would of thought it?
i thot dempsey was fantastic. crowd solidly behind him, very inventive and energetic throughout. when in midfield, he's ful's best player. although what's with that haircut? he looks like davy jones from the monkees.
Great win for Fulham!!! 4 points from two games isn't a result that Fulham's seen in a little while. Tom said it ... they looked like a different team. They were patient and confident and they got the result that quality teams get when they play with poise. Bullard was marvelous out there and he worked twice as hard as anyone else on the field. He certainly deserved to score the winning goal. It was really great to see McBride get back out there and stretch his legs. I think that his presence alone gave the fans and the players a boost. Hangeland looks to have been a great signing!!! He's such a presence back there that he can't help but make an impact. Dempsey played hard and made a few really good/cleaver passes that weren't taken advantage of. He hasn't played particularly well these last two games, but I certainly don't think he deserves a ride on the pine for it. Konchesky ... slow and prone to errors. It's not for a lack of effort, but as was mentioned before, I get nervous when he's got the ball.
