So it'll finally be arriving today. Even thought the courier service claims to have put it in the mail, I find it hard to believe it would take 2 weeks (as of tomorrow) to show up. And they've pretty much washed their hands on the issue, deferring me back to Amazon's customer service, who promptly sent out a replacement order overnight to me (and as of 5:37 this morning is "out for delivery").

The customer service representative said how it's not the first complaint they've received regarding this company, who I've never heard of until 2 weeks ago, so I'm curious how many more "second chances" they'll get.

I just got my platinum trophy for this last night. It was a pretty good game, but I found the fact that they basically left out a chunk of the main game pretty off-putting. I mean, it's one thing when a game has some DLC that takes you to a different part of a game's world like RPG's seem to do, but there's just a chunk of the main story that the game skips over for no real reason.

I hope this isn't the start of a new trend.

Luckily for you, they should all be on the map for you now and and they're fairly easy to get.

Did anyone else find it funny when Ezio's escorting his mother and sister out of town and is saved my his uncle?

"Don't you recognize me, Ezio? It's me, Mario!"

    I couldn't stop laughing.

There's so much backlash about how Ubisoft is so money-hungry and greedy that they'd purposely exclude these two "corrupted memory slots" - 12 and 13 - then bring them out later on and charge for them. It's pretty common-place for gamemakers to do this (SW: The Force Unleashed comes to mind).

I'm definitely snagging this and the future DLC episode, as soon as I finish the game.

Saw this link from the AC2 UK site talking about the 2 DLC:

    http://assassinscreed.uk.ubi.com/assassins-creed-2/dlc/

    Battle of Forli
    Available January 28th
Ezio and Machiavelli make their way to Forli. As they approach something goes wrong: Forli is under attack! Borgia guards are laying siege to the city to retrieve the Templar Treasure Ezio carries.

    Bonfire of the Vanities
    Available February 25th
Ezio is met at the entrance to Florence by Machiavelli – leader of the Florence mercenaries. He explains that the mad monk has taken control of the city. He’s used the apple to control the city’s Nine most influential citizens.

    And then this gem ...

Bonfire of the Vanities + Three Templar secret locations
Expand the adventure with the additional content “Bonfire of the Vanities” and 3 exclusive missions: Palazzo Medici, Santa Maria Del Frari and Arsenal Shipyard.

So then it would seem the maps exclusive to the Black Edition will be available to download?! If so, hot damn!

So I downloaded and finished Battle of Forli tonight.

Overall, not bad for $3. Took me just over an hour or so. The only think I was disappointed in was that it just ends, you're transported to Florence and you hear one of the girls go, Shit I can't decode it and that's it, it's free roam until Bonfire of the Vanities is released.

It's worth it's price tag, but I'd probably recommend you wait until the other DLC is released, so that way you can play straight through.

I've only just completed DNA Sequence 5 (The Conspirators) ... I have to wonder if, when I download the DLC, it'll play right from 11 into 12 (and 13 for that matter), then finally into 14 without having to load anything separately.

Just got to Venice and completed the first and second missions and got some of the viewpoints knocked off. So many guards!

Just got the Merchant of Venice achievement last night (completed DNA sequence 7). But damn isn't Venice such a maze?! I keep getting my bearings all out of whack.

I had to pull up the map quite a bit to get around Venice. Normally, I would have just traveled via rooftop, but there seem to be quite a few more rooftop guards than I would have suspected for Renaissance Italy, and they seem to take objection to running about like a madman 4 stories above canal level. :)

I think it's a total maze and I haven't really explored yet. I also only played about 5 minutes of the first AC. I think I need to get that one and play through it.

The most frustrating part is that you'll start to cross a bridge and notice the area on the other side isn't accessible to you yet (has that white, shimmery, transparent barrier up). I think the other side of the Rialto Bridge just opened up for me, and I quit the game just as I was about to scale the Bell Tower of San Marco.

I studied all these places in my Arch. History classes back in the day, and now I get to play Spiderman on them. How cool is that?!

As a history major I love just wandering around, and I really need to play the first one since I wrote my senior paper on the Crusades. I've been to Florence and San Gimignano so I recognized the major landmarks from standing outside of them.

Have you been collecting all the codex pages in each city? If I see a new one pop up after a viewpoint it is the first thing I go for since you need to collect them all.

The only mission that has really pissed me off so far was the one where you have to kill the guy at the top of the tower in SG and there are archers on lower towers. I kept trying to get on the rope to get to the final tower and I'd jump into oblivion. After three tries I just went straight for it without killing the archers and killed the guy in like two minutes.

I think I have all but 4 or 5 codex pages left. Da Vinci sure does decrypt them quickly! I tend to make trips back to the villa quite frequently and will drop 2 or 3 off at a time. Plus I don't want the chest to hit its max ... wasn't there something about your sister skimming from it when the chest has reached capacity?

That mission was frustrating for me as well, but more because of the 2 guards on the platform where the target is. One guard pushed me off the edge just when I was about to hidden-blade him. I think I was finally successful on the 3rd or 4th. But hey, being an assassin shouldn't be easy.

true, being an assassin shouldn't be easy. I should also make a trip back to the Villa from Venice to collect some money and pump some of my 10k into the villa.

You'll need to make upgrades to the villa in order to find all the treasure in and around it, especially up on the perimeter walls. And the more paintings you purchase, the greater income you bring in, the more you can spend on courtesans ... what?

It's kinda cool to buy them, considering they are classic masterpieces you're getting for pennies on the florin ...

You can also get the "Art Connoisseur" achievement - if you're into those - by purchasing a painting from both Venice and Florence.

if you buy paintings, the value of your villa goes up, which means you make more money. there's advantages to doing so.

I thought that the next installment of Assassin's Creed would jump to another influential time period in history ... first we experienced Altair's adventures during the Crusades, then it was Ezio and the Renaissance. I was hoping for taking the role of another assassin in Desmond's ancestry but in more recent times, perhaps the Industrial Revolution. But that will not be the case, apparently.

Ubisoft just announced that this game* will still have Ezio as the protagonist, and will take place in Rome.

    From G4TV's "The Feed":
    http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/702455/Next-Assassins-Creed-Takes-Place-In-Rome-Stars-Ezio.html

    *however, I wonder if it's going to be AC3, or AC2.5 ...

damn. I was in the same mind as you in thinking Victorian Era England would be the next step, with levels in India and/or Hong Kong. I was also thinking that part of the next game would take place in modern times given Desmond's absorbtion of abilities from the Animus for the final battle against Abstergo.
