Looks like Tino might be wearing the bacl and white one more. He's not the player he used to be, but if there is a fountain of youth for Tino, Newcastle is it. Could be a good fit. http://www.soccernet.com/england/news/2002/0808/20020808nufcasprila.html
Unfortunately for Tino, he is now trying to sign for Darlington, in the Football League 3rd division. It seems that a work permit has been refused initially, but no doubt will be granted on appeal.
As predicted, yesterday Tino did get approval for a work permit. He is expected to play for Darlington at Kidderminster on Saturday.
All bets are off! Tino apparently "did a runner" from Darlington at 5.00 am today. He had received a better offer from an unnamed club in the Middle East. I agree with you, Crew Toon, about him rejoining Newcastle. While a fantastically skilful player, he was a mixed blessing even at his peak. By now, the disadvantages must greatly outweigh the benefits. Maybe he could have considered the Mackems?
I'm already stuck with a useless Colombian on one of the two clubs I support, and am quite glad that Tino is nowhere near St. James'.
there are runours that Spurs are sniffing around Tino.....whilst i am 99 % sure this is just a rumour , it would be very interesting to get Tino back in the premiership.............
I think it would be more than interesting, more like hilarious. Even better, if Tino and Gazza were to sign for the same club. Does anyone know whether his work permit for the UK was specific to the proposal of playing for Darlo, or is it valid for any UK club? If the latter is the case, then I don't think we have heard the last of this. There are rumours that Tino has holed up in London rather than flown out to the Middle East.
