    2018 goals for Iraqi football:

    Win the Gulf Cup
Prepare for the Asian Cup with many friendlies against strong teams
Lift the ban on international matches at home

Hopefully it will be a great year for our lions.

I sincerely hope that Younis will take over the FA. Hopefully Abtan and Younis can work together to clean up this horrible federation.

Because we're done with our fake youth teams. Tbh I don't wanna waste my time watching NT players beat youth players.

We are not building a new generation at all..

Seeing Farhan Shakur, Amjed Attwan, Alaa Mahawi, etc with this team is a joke. It's just comical at this point. Where else do you see guys playing for the U-20 and U23 teams for 5+ years.

Success in these competitions are hollow.

Mahdi Kareem announced his retirement from football today.

He had an amazing career spanning over 22 years. 110 games for the national team and played club football in 3 continents.

One of the big legends of Iraqi football.

I just want to know why Yaser gets chance after chance, meanwhile Osama Rashid has been playing much better than him and still can't get a call up. Rebin Asaad as well.

Yaser is one of the worst players on his team right now, Northampton fans were desperate to see him leave last January. The guy shined for a while, but he's pretty much finished now.

Iraqi football is a mess. We don't know what happened between the FA and Yaser (almost every expat witnessed problems in Iraq). I agree he is not in good form but at least it's a meaningless friendly. Give him this game so we can see if there's still some talent left. If not then move on.
Osama is injured now for a while.. :(

And Rebin will get his chance with the NT. He was unlucky not to join in November due to injury and club commitments.

Baghdad, Zakho and Maysan are added by AFC and will be reviewed by FIFA.

Saudi Arabia is playing Moldova at home on Feb 26 , but it seems that Saudi Arabia will be playing Iraq on Feb 28 away but maybe with other players than in the first match ?

Amazing news. Let's hope everything goes smoothly this time and there are no more bans. We should try to get it lifted for Najaf too because we have a beautiful new stadium there. Baghdad would be harder to get lifted though.

For me personally I'm fine with Basra as main stadium for competitive matches (World Cup, Asian Cup qualifiers) and Karbala for friendlies. Erbil for the Kurdish teams as they don't accept our NT over there.

As for the other provinces (Najaf, Maysan, Baghdad) it would be nice to lift, but no urgency.

Latest news is that Basim takes over Shorta, and our FA will look for a foreign coach.

    Same routine as always..
