Alright, with the second matchday done in the four-team groups, and no real surprises therein, things are clearing up. KOR is already qualified to the QFs, and the current leaders of A, B, & D can all win their groups with a draw. (PRK can win their group with anything better than a 7-goal loss.) The interesting thing of course comes down to the ranking of the second-place teams... A: Since UZB most likely won't beat CHN, they should have 3pts with a GD no better than +5, though a slim change at 4pts +6 B: The loser of THA/TPE will have 3pts and a GD of 0 at best; a draw would honestly suit them both fairly well, though I'm sure THA wants the win to have an easier QF D: In the wild possibility of VIE beating JPN, the latter is still pretty safe with 8-0 wins over both bottom teams, meaning even if they end up with 3pts in the second-place rankings, they'll likely have the best GD. VIE would still be pretty good with a draw (4pts +2) but if they lose, they will care quite a bit about the other result, as a winner there determines whether VIE's loss counts against a 6-1 win or a 2-0 win. E: It does not matter if HKG miraculously beats KOR, because current tiebreaks mean those two are locked into 4th and 1st respectively. This means that PHI and MYA absolutely need to win *and* dig out of the GD holes they got from KOR (-4 and -3 respectively). Basically, both of them need to hope that there's a large loss in at least one other group to help their win; in the best-case scenario, MYA only need to make up four goals on the loser of THA/TPE, but in the worst-case scenario, PHI need to make up 10 goals against UZB! (Or 20 against CHN if you want to be extreme.) I expect both PHI/MYA and THA/TPE to be pretty close, and JPN/VIE probably won't be a blowout either, so unless UZB really lays an egg, I think E will be the group without a second team in the QFs - meaning we get JPN is the "lucky" team getting PRK next round.
Vietnam just lost 0-7 to Japan opening the door to a team from Grp E to advance. The Philippines in particular can advance if they win over Myanmar by 2 goals. However since the FIFA window is over, some of the Philippines players have now returned to their respective clubs in Europe leaving them shorthanded making it much more difficult to accomplish that task against a solid Myanmar defense.
FT. Philippines 3-0 Myanmar Eggesvik awarded WOTM with the brace. Uzbekistan, Thailand and the Philippines advanced to the knockout round
China 6-0 Uzbekistan Uzbekistan and Vietnam both have 3 points 0 GD. I am not sure why Uzbekistan advanced though.
VIE had a -5 GD for this comparison since games against the 4th place team in 4-team groups don't count. (otherwise VIE and PHI would have 6pts instead of 3pts)

North Korea have long had South Korea's number, with 15 wins, three draws and one loss overall. The lone South Korean victory came in 2005. North Korea even won the 2014 Asian Games gold medal in the South Korean city of Incheon. N Korea though have a new young team that haven't played internationally in 4 years before the Asian Games so this might be the best chance for the S Koreans to turn the tables.
To be entirely fair, it's less that PRK "has the number" of KOR and more that PRK has simply always been the stronger team in a general sense... They've always been ~10th in the rankings while KOR have always been ~20th. Not all that different from, say, USA v CAN or GER v ENG.
Korea Republic 1 - 1 Korea DPR at HT Own goal from Myongsong An after South Korea corner kick in 11th min and beautiful equalizer from free kick by Hak Ri in 20th min. South Korea play with 10 players from 41st min. Unfortunatelly the ref made some big errors in this match and it is South Korea that end up with short end of the stick. Obvious PK not given for Korea Republic at the begining of the match and then red card (2nd yellow) for Hwayon Son for something that wasn't even a foul.
Kore Republic 1 - 4 Korea DPR FT Very poor officiating Bad decisions by the Thai referee Pansa Chaisanit decided on the outcome of the match. The camera caught several times the disbelief visible on the face of the fourth technical referee, Asaka Koizumi, which was the best commentary on the actions of her colleague refereeing this match. The Japanese technical referee was still listening to complaints from Colin Bell the coach of the South Korean women in the first half. In the second half, all that could be seen was a resigned look from both of them - aptly commenting on the level of refereeing by the match's main arbiter.
Three of the Philippine starters Cowart, Quezada and Reina Bonta of Santos FC had to leave because of club commitments. They are now down to 17 players for this game with Guillou having to return to Sweden before the Myanmar match. Bonta was replaced by 17 y.o. Isabella Passion who gave up a penalty before the end of the first half that resulted in a 0-1 deficit for the Philippines. Halo Long was also red carded a few minutes earlier leaving them one woman down the rest of the match. HT Japan 1-0 Philippines
ouch. I tried hard to find a livestream in the USA, but couldn't. guess it's fine but I woulda liked to catch some of it. was willing to pay too but whatever.
FT. Japan 8-1 Philippines Despite the score the Philippines had a respectable performance playing one woman down for most of the match and with many of their starters leaving due to club commitments. They even scored a goal early in the 2nd half from Sarina Bolden to cut the lead to 1-3 the first team to score against Japan in this tournament. Sarina has now scored a goal in every game the Philippines has played in this tournament including against both S Korea and Japan. However when they fell behind 1-4 the coaching started substituting in the alternates including our teenagers and local players who gave up a few more goals to Japan. My guess is even if the Philippines had advanced they would continue to lose even more players due to club commitments. Japan is the highest rated women's team the Philippines has ever faced in an official tournament(they played the US in a closed unrated friendly prior to the World Cup which they lost 0-3) so it was good experience for them. The Asian Games was good preparation for the Philippines since they needed to adjust to the new coaching staff which met them just a few days before the beginning of the tournament. I think they will have a better performance in the Olympics qualifiers in a few weeks time with these games under the new coaching staff under their belt and with all their pros available this time.
