OUCH! I guess this is not a golden age of Kyrgyz football! Afghanistan 2 Kyrgyzstan 1 Afghanistan scorers: Sayeed Tahir Shah 26', Farid Azami 70' Krgyzstan scorers: Juma Gulov 60' "International football newcomer Afghanistan defeated Kyrgyzstan 2-1 Sunday in a Group C qualifying match for next year's Asian Cup in China." Hosts Nepal are the other team in the group.
Great post ! In Soviet Days I can feebly recall " Spartak " Frunze , as sometimes 1 st league participant or the name was " Pamir " ? " Kairat " Alma Ata was somewhat better , but I can recall them making it to Premiership . While " Neftchi" Baku and " Pahtakor " Tashkent , did have somewhat successive stints in the top division , and some national Team players.
I know nothing about Kyrgyz football, but I have to think that if you can't win a qualifying group when you're placed with Afghanistan and Nepal that's not a good sign.
Actually , I remembered that it was " Pamir " Dushanbe , which was the capital of Tajikistan. I guess " Spartak" Frunze , was the team from Kyrgiziya , I m sure Shurik will be able to correct me .
Ah the things I find entertaining when I want to avoid doing things I must get done... Anyway, for those of you eagerly awaiting more results from Kyrgyzstan's group: Nepal - Afghanistan 4-0 This three team group, which may lack in football skill but certainly does not lack in beautiful mountain scenery, now looks like this: Nepal 3 pts; GD +4 Afghanistan 3 pts; GD -3 Kyrgyzstan 0 pts; GD -1 If Kyrgyzstan can beat Nepal on Thursday, they'd all be tied on points. I don't know what the tie breaker is, but if it's goal differential, things don't look good for the Kyrgyz!
Nepal-Kyrgyzstan 0-2 I've been out of the loop for a few days, but it seems Kyrgyzstan almost pulled it off. They needed to beat hosts Nepal by 3 but only beat them by 2. Zhal.
