Dean Ashton has had another operation on his ankle, but it's supposed to be 'minor'.
It's hard to believe that he'll be back before the end of the season, and Zola always seems to be very cautious when players who've been injured return.
It's been a great loss not to have Ashton this season; I think he's a very good striker, and would have scored often. We missed him the most early on, but let's hope he finally makes a full recovery.

I hope you're right Leslie. I think it's now got to the stage where it has to be certain that any surgery performed has cleaned up the ankle, otherwise things will be looking bleak for him. The noises emanating from the official site and most news articles are positive.

Both Ashton and Dyer deserve some good fortune after the setbacks they've had. It would be a bonus to see them get some kind of action this term, but I would be more than happy to see them sit out the rest of the season if it meant they were fully ready for the next campaign.

I would not be surprised to see both Ashton and Dyer moved on in the summer.

I don't think Dyer will ever be back to what he was and Ashton is just a constant injury risk. I'm sure 'Arry would put in a good offer for him:D

I reckon they'll both be back by the end of the season. It's a great shame that both suffered severe contact injuries. Thank you SWP and that idot from, Brentford was it?
Dyer looked really good in his run outs, but then suffered a hamsting pull, I think. The curse of all sprinters. Ashton had a couple of small bone chips floating around. Not easy to see them, even on a scan, until they move.
Don't worry too much, things are looking up and they'll both be stars next year, as we challenge for the title......Hmmm.

If they are both here next year, and assuming we don't have any major changes in the close season, where do these two fit in with next years squad?

Dyer Behrami/Noble Parker Collinson across the midfield and Ashton Cole up front?

NewRB Collins Upson Ilunga across the back?

I think if they can all stay fit that's a strong starting 11

But do we still lack good squad depth?
