    A. Cole should change his name to A. Hole- He's the dirtiest player in England IMO. I want nothing more than someone to tackle this guy so he gets injured & his career is over. They should give him jail time. That tackle he did vs. Leiscter could have lead to a broken like like it did for that Coventry player, & this guy should get a lifetime ban from the sport for being such a dirty piece of SH-T.

It was a bad tackle but I think you might be going slightly OTT. He was very close to getting the ball and i think the 2 points Arsenal dropped and a one match suspension is a fair punishment.

Never seen Steven 'WWE' Gerrard's drop kicks, Christoph Dugarry's elbows and spitting, Roy Keane's 'aggression' or Dennis Bergkamp's sneaky stamps and elbows then ?. These guys are worse than Ashley Cole. Cole's challenge was bad, but at least he 'dealt' with the threat. Most of the time, the opposing player can glide past him into the empty space on the flanks behind him.

Oh, and Colin Healy plays for Sunderland, and it was Coventry City's Youssef Safri who did him in.

I thought he might have meant the tackle on David Busst.

Actually, I think you're right. Just coincidence the latest 'bendy leg' incident involved Coventry. The guy who took that picture of Busst made something like £50,000-100,000+ off that one photo, as all the newspapers, websites etc. used it.

well, this tackle is somewhere in the middle of the polar opposites expressed in the first two posts of this thread. to say that he should be banned from playing .......... i can't get with that. however, to say that losing 2 points and a one game ban is sufficient is equally ludicrous. Ashley looked at the player, then jumped in the air with his two feet together, and kicked his feet out into the opposing players leg. he saw the ball, and the ball wasn't bouncing, so it is not like he missed the ball on accident. that play looks like he was deliberately sending a message out. he is quite deserving of a 10 game match suspension in my book. as for the tackle that broke the guys leg involving coventry ....... although the injury was far far worse, the intent and recklessness on that play did not rival that of the one with Ashley Cole (and that's saying a lot). we need to stop making excuses for incredibly bad behavior.

Right, & the next time he does it, its gonna end up in a broken leg for a player. How would you like it if YOU were the person who got the broken leg?

There was no intent there though to hurt Thatcher, Cole was going for the ball and came very close to getting it. A 10 game suspension is ridiculous, the penalty for violent conduct is 3 games, how can a two footed tackle merit a 10 games suspension?

I have had two footed tackles done on me (although luckily not had a broken leg), and as long as the player wins the ball they are fine. Cole deserved his red and a 1-3 match suspension, no more.

I can't help thinking someone is a Newbie in more than one sense of the word.

Cole tackle was rash, but these things happen. No harm done. Jail time? Please ...

i guess that is where we will disagree. Cole didn't come close to the ball, and he kicked out his two feet when he went over the top. It doesn't look to me like he was going for the ball, and even if you determine that he was, in the beginning, when he saw that he couldn't make it, he clearly lashed out. i don't care what the prem punishment for violent conduct is. i am speaking of what he SHOULD get if things were as they should be. there are two foot tackles, and then there are Two Foot Tackles! his was in the latter category. lol the fact that the guys leg didn't actually snap (as it would have if his foot had been firmly placed on the ground), should not mitigate what you think of the tackle.

By fiddlefaddle's logic, any player who gives a horrific or potentially horrific tackle should be given a huge ban (if not a lifetime one) and should be jailed. You know, it really makes sense if you think about it...

    Pics or Vid

Does anybody have a pic or vid of the tackle on Colin Healy this past week????

I keep hearing how the tackle was ok, there was no malicious intent yada yada....but it seems to me like its pretty damn hard to break a leg the way this is being described without doing something wrong....

also any pics of cole's stupid tackle so we can judge for ourselves for those who didnt see it.....

Makes me laugh to see you talking about this Cole tackle.

Muzzy Izzet did a far worse 'challenge' (i.e. an ankle stamp on a standing foot) on Freddie Kanoute, could have broken his ankle, but damaged his ligaments instead. Not only that but it was intentional, no attempt to play the ball at all.

Compared to that Cole's tackle was minor, and I have no reason to support an A*senal player.

Cole will probably get more than the normal three games, but not for the tackle but for taking too long to get off the pitch once he was red carded.
He should get a little bit more than the normal three games for his tackle and should be a statement by the FA to not tolerate that sort of behavior. I think the ideal ban would be 5 to 7 games and a fine of some sort as well, maybe going to a pool of money to help retired footballers with injuries??

If he gets more matches added to his ban for not leaving the pitch immediately, then the FA will be ignoring the advice of the referee that sent Cole off. Mr. Styles has said that Cole wasn't being belligerent but was lingering on the field to apologize both to the ref and to Thatcher. Of course, who knows what the FA in its infinite wisdom will do.

Its not just about the damage done, its also about the intent! Ashley intended to hurt the player he tackled. He probably would have loved to have broken the guys leg in half, ala Youseff Safri. His punishment should be a hit from a sledge hammer to break leg, so he knows what the pain of a broken leg feels like. Its not like this is the 1st time he has proven he has no class. He was one of the worst players in the pushing incident w/ Aresenal vs. Ruu & Man Utd.

. I dont know why this guy is such a dirty player. Must have a chip on his shoulder for being teased for having a girls name.

Somehow when I saw the title of this thread I knew if I read it there would be an Arsenal fan crying about the big mean old FA out to get them. I swear if the FA kicked Man United into the third division Arsenal fans would cry that if it had been them they would have been put down to the Conference!

And somehow I knew you would come trolling in from the Politics forum to make personal attacks with (as always) nothing intelligent to add.

Sorry I stated a fact. Go look through the Arsenal threads, there is a running theme. Oh and where is the personal attack?

Not sure you understand the difference between facts and opinions. By "fact", do you mean that I'm a whining Arsenal fan saying the FA is out to get us? If so, then please point out to me where I stated that the FA is specifically out to get Arsenal. You're drawing your own inference but it's not anything that I have said. Did my post say that the FA is out to get Arsenal? No, it questioned the FA's ability to handle these situations with anything resembling consistency or competence. It just so happened that this time it involves an Arsenal player. (for the record, Ashley deserved to be sent off for the tackle and if he gets a 3 match ban, I wouldn't like it but I wouldn't complain it was unfair either.)
Here, let me give you a few more examples...I think the FA just now giving Joe Cole a ban for something that happened months and months ago when he was with West Ham is absurd. Why did it take them so long? Here's another...I think the FA has mis-handled the whole Rio drug test incident...it's taking too long for them to decide anything and they shouldn't have barred his participation in the Euro qualifier if they weren't going to be able to sort out the whole mess beforehand. If I'm not mistaken, I believe several people in the Man. Utd. forum expressed similar concerns with the FA's decision making process on this account. Simply put, you didn't state any facts, just your opinion and the personal attack was automatically assuming that I'm some conspiracy theorist Arsenal fan with nothing to back that up.

Ok, if that's what you meant then I apologise. I was just basing your comment on the incredibly long list of posts by Arsenal fans talking about how the FA was out to get them. But I do find it amusing that accuse me of makinf a personal attack (which I never did) by making a personal attack. I am a big enough man to realise that I misunderstood your intention and apologise, are you?

It was a deplorable tackle attempt and he should be punished, but no more than Gerrard .If his punishment is
more than what Gerrard got for last years tackle then it
will just be what i expected.
