Seems it's hitting them hard at the moment, having to stop their own tournements.

I guess VFF need to prepare for Asean Championship this year and 2011 Asian Cup so it could hurt them in the long run, but hopefully they can get some friendlies arranged.

    Latest News From V-League

HANOI (26 May 2008) - The one point taken off Saigon Port was enough for Haiphong to wrest the top spot in the Vietnam V-League.

Haiphong held Saigon Port to a 1-1 and they took advantage to go top following the loss suffered by close rivals The Cong when they were beaten 3-1 by Dong Tam Long An.

Saigon Port were a lot more determined in the opening quarter of an hour as they launched a series of attacks which Haiphong had little difficulty in absorbing.

A disallowed goal in the 14th minute was the high point in the first half as both teams remained in a deadlock at the break.

However, Haiphong were quicker into the second half as Ngoc Thanh blasted in the lead in the 55th minute before Saigon Port replied off Van Tien who rifled in a 30-metre shot to the roof of the Haiphong net.

The one point helped Haiphong (in red in pix) to be back on top with 28 points as The Cong settled for the second spot albeit with the same 28 points.

In the meantime, Hoang Anh Gia Lai secured a win over Thanh Hoa with the only goal of the game coming off Thai striker Datsakorn Thonglao in the 69th minute to remain on third with 28pts.

In other matches, Binh Dinh beat Hanoi ACB 1-0, climbing up two places to tenth as Da Nang and Hoa Phat Hanoi shared one point in a 1-1 draw.

Defending champions Binh Duong moved up one place to sixth with a 1-0 home win over Song Lam Nghe An while Khanh Hoa beat Nam Dinh 3-2 at home to remain on eighth.

    NST article

1 thing the article did nt mention is DPMM Brunei fate as FAM has clearly nt included them in next year MSL as the artcile has only 16 teams (13 state teams, KL, RAF, Polis)

Anyway if FAM accept this plan, Malaysia football will take a step back in time to 80s & they r nt helping themselves

I think DPMM can take this as a snub and maybe look to get out of their whilst they can, a possible move to Singapore League??

I think there's also another team from Brunei playing in the 2nd level league, maybe it would be worth these two clubs moving whilst the opportunity is possibly there??

    That's right. Ridiculous.
It seems the Malaysian FA have finally got their revenge on 'My Team' who embarrassed them so.

I recently emailed the ASEAN Football Federation about the ASEAN Club Championship and to see if there were any plans to re-ignite this competition.

And, today, to my amazement i have had a reply. Stating that they will re-start the competition, they didn't say when, but they are in the disucssion stage. So hoepfully we will have our regional tournement for club sides back soon. Keep an eye on www.aseanfootball.org for latest developments

AFF have announced the following through their website www.aseanfootball.org

Possible charity match between Myanmar and ASEAN select

PETALING JAYA (29 June 2008) – In the interest of Asean solidarity, a friendly match will be held in Yangon as part of an effort to provide fund and relief to the victims of cyclone Nargis which hit Myanmar recently.

On 2 May 2008 tropical cyclone Nargis hit the coast of Myanmar and devastated large parts of the low-lying Irrawaddy delta which resulted in deaths and destruction.

Winds exceeding 190 kilometres per hour ripped through Myanmar’s biggest city Yangon for more than ten hours.

The suggestion by the AFF is to have each of the member association send at least one or two players to Yangon to play a friendly match against the Myanmar national team.

“I believe that an additional financial contribution is appropriate before we hold the friendly match,” added Tengku Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Ahmad Rithaudeen, the president of the Asean Football Federation (AFF).

The exact quantum of the financial contribution will be announced at a later date.

    Latest from Cambodian Premier League

PHNOM PENH (2 July 2008) – Moha Garuda FC picked up only their third win in the Cambodia Premier League with a close 3-1 win over Naga Corp FC at the National Olympic Stadium.

Ek Vannak’s early strike in the 23rd minute for Moha Garuda set the rhythm for the game but Naga Corp were quick to respond in the 38th minute off Ndjana Pierre for both teams to be on level terms at the break.
But the restart saw a determined Moha Garuda to take the lead and they took only four minutes to go in front from A. Sila Sunday before A. Kenneth fought back for Naga in the 71st minute for the score to be at 2-2.

However, four minutes to the end Loch Sophia slammed home the winner for Moha Garuda as they stayed off the bottom of the table with ten points from seven matches.
In the meantime, there really was no contest in the match between Phuchung Neak FC and Phnom Penh Empire which saw the latter coasting to an easy 4-0 victory.
Phnom Penh’s goals were scored by Keo So Ngan (11th minute), Chim Ratanak (42nd minute) and Chan Rithy (81st and 88th minute).
With the win, Phnom Penh are now on third behind Build Bright United FC and Khemara Keila FC.

CURRENT CAMBODIA PREMIER LEAGUE 2008 STANDINGS
    1. BUILD BRIGHT UNITED FC 16pts (+10)
    2. KHEMARA KEILA FC 12pts (+4)

The new plan by AFF is being oppposed & nt suprised as they r nt taking into account domestic leagues as they cnnt promised anything, nt even ACL or AFC Cup spots

I cnnt see other ASEAN FAs supporting as well especially FAM & PSSI who have leagues since the 1980s

Indonesia support is esepcially important as no plan in AFF will work w/o PSSI support w/ the Indonesia factor too important as their ecomony is the Biggest in the region & can support (or fail)any plans singlehandlely

So what sub region would we join? It'd seem logical to join ASEAN as we're pretty close to Indonesia.

    Binh Duong - V-League Champions

HANOI (20 Aug 2008) – A 4-0 win over Boss Binh Dinh has given Becamex Binh Duong back-to-back titles in the V-League as they romped to yet another fine season with five points to spare over second-placed Dong Tam Long An.
