And if not Australia, it'd be wise to go to Korea or Japan.

This move will definitely not happen. How can he get a work permit in the 1st place while Indonesia has not even been in the top 100 of Fifa ranking in the last 2 years? He won't be transferred to Korea or Japan either. The clubs there are allowed only 3 foreigners. There are tons of Brazilians who are much much better than him, then why Bambang? I think if he does move at all, he'll move to that Australian club.

This is confirmed. The team will play against Guatemala and an unannounced club from 7-11 of June.

The International U19 Football Championship, to be held in Hanoi from May 5-9, will draw the participation of national U19 teams from Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.

The annual championship, organised by the Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) and The Thao Vietnam (Vietnam Sports) newspaper, will provide a chance for Southeast Asian young players to improve their skills.

The first placed team will receive a cup and 3,000 USD, the 2nd team will be given 2,000 USD, and the third, 1,000 USD. The fair-play prize winner will receive 500 USD.

Host Vietnam will play its first match against Myanmar on May 5. It will meet Laos on May 7 and Thailand on May 9.

Thailand Friday defeated the Vietnamese team to win the Under-19 The Thao (Sports Vietnam) Newspaper Cup but drew criticism for unsportsmanlike behavior during the closing stages of the football final in Hanoi.

Despite winning the friendly four-country competition, the Thai team refused to accept the cup and the US$3,000 in prize money.

The Thai team walked off the field at Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium after referee Phung Dinh Dung awarded a penalty shot to the Vietnamese team with just three minutes left on the clock.

The penalty gave Vietnam a chance to win the final, which was drawn at 2-all.

One of the Thai players even took off his shirt as if the match had ended.

Members of the organizing board begged Thai team officials to send their team back onto the field – to no avail.

Finally, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Vice President Vu Quang Vinh and Secretary General Tran Quoc Tuan spent 10 minutes persuading the Thai team to resume the game.

Although the Thai team returned to the field to play out the remaining minutes, the unsporting antics continued.

The Thai goal-keeper stood to the left of the goal, leaving it wide open.

His plan didn’t work, though, because Vietnamese striker Duc Tai sent the ball wide.

It’s not clear whether Tai decided to miss himself or whether he was instructed to by team officials.

Tai’s wide shot – which received rapturous applause from spectators, his teammates and even players from Malaysia and Laos – may have taken the Thai team by surprise.

They responded by refusing to accept the trophy.

Thai team leader Wisit Konworrakul and an assistant, rather than the 18 Thai players and coach Kawin Kachendecha, went up to the podium to collect the prize.

The Thai team coach told VFF Secretary General Tran Quoc Tuan: “There are no champions today. The Thai team were not the champs. The title should go to … the spectators.”

After the match, the Thai team leader Wisit Konworrakul complained the host country had unfairly arranged a Vietnamese referee overseeing the final.

The situation, however, degenerated even further into farce after the presentation ceremony, with the Thai coach insisting on returning the cup to VFF Secretary General Tuan.

After a lengthy discussion, mediated by a representative of the Malaysian team, the cup was neither returned to VFF nor the event organizers but left on the Thai team’s bench.

When the Thai group left the stadium for their hotel, a representative of the organizers carried the winner’s cup to their bus.

It was supposed to be a friendly competition but the excessive tension gave a very bad impression of the game and the reputation of the two teams.

Friday’s incident followed accusations a Vietnamese referee was not fair on the Laotian team, allowing the Vietnamese team to crush their Laotian rivals 4-1.

It’s a terrible shame for underdeveloped football in the Southeast Asian region.

It’s also a great shame that team officials spoil young footballers rather than teaching them to behave like true sportsmen.

Quite right. The blame lies with the management who appear to be enouraging this behaviour, and with the Thai senor side who walked off when playing Singapore early last year. The U19s have presumably taken their cue from that incident.
If they have just cause to suspect the referee of being a 'homer' then there are proper channels to deal with such matters. I want to see people fined and banned over this to really send out a message to all the Thai national sides that this is not the way to deal with a greivance.

Politcally speaking, ASEAN comprises Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, The Philippines and Cambodia. East Timor have applied to become members of the association but the induction process is expected to take five years, and Papua New Guinea are officially entitled 'observers'.

I stole this from the Philippines forum, thanks Jonny

    Philippines - Tajikistan 0-0 !

Great result for Philippines who had a man sent off in first half.

Tajikistan and Philippines have 4 points after two matches in AFC Challenge Cup.

Last match will decide who qualify for the finals , but they got a good chance :)

Philippines -Bhutan and Tajikistan - Brunei on May 17

    Well done to Philippines

It seem at home, they are a force to be feared

The last ASEAN Cup Qualifiers, they did so brilliantly at home & now the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers, they are doing equally well if nt better

Brunei got a 1-1 draw with Bhutan in the Challenge Cup, well done for picking up their first point. Hopefully they can help the Philippines and hold Tajikistan to a point

Philippines beat Bhutan 3-0 in their last Challenge Cup qualifying match, but Brunei couldn't help them qualify for the finals in India as they got thumped 4-0 by Tajikistan
