Roma really, really, REALLY need a win to advance. They will have the Giallorossi faithful in their corner and with Cassano out and Totti not full strength, they Rome side are going to have to dig deep.

I say they pull it out and win 2-1.

Its seems like both sides are kind of out of it, there was a flare thrown by Basel supporters onto the pitch...stoppage of play.

But Roma look the better side, so far.

    3-0 now.
    Totti 45th min
    Nonda 49th min

    Roma are clearly outplaying Basel.

    The description was this:

Ball clipped down the right-hand channel...TOTTI'S FIRST TOUCH IS GOOD! HIS SECOND EVEN BETTER, AS HE FIRES ACROSS ZUBERBUHLER AND INTO THE FAR CORNER!! Roma with breathing space now!!

    A thigh strain, nothing too serious . . .

If Cassano leaves now, it will not be on a happy note.
He gave us about a year and a half of brilliant soccer,
but he never got over Capello's leaving and I believe
he's felt deceived and wronged at the club's steadily
    declining ambitions.

Even his friendship with Totti, once the reason he chose
Roma over Juve, seems to have evaporated. What will
it say about us when Cassano goes somewhere else and
    becomes a legend?

It's actually Basel, I guess Catfish spelled the name wrong. Basel is a city in Switzerland, Basil is a herb.

Well, it might not be his last game, because after the Christmas break the transfer window is long. He might play 1 or 2 games after Christmas with Roma and then a team may pick him up.

    off the purple line

The reporter who generated the piece for Channel 4 must be a Roma fan; he sounds a lot like us: "Roma’s season is back on track after a comfortable 3-1 victory..."

I'm sure s/he will be sounding like us after the next loss to a side that is only playing in Serie A because the league was expanded: "Roma's season is on the verge of imploding. Reports from the capital suggest that the locker room is in turmoil, the manager will soon be sacked, and Cassano is only weeks away from joining Capello in Juventus."

The following week we will beat some other minnow and it will be back to: "Roma’s season is back on track after a comfortable 3-1 victory..."

Let's pray we will be the 2005 Liverpool of the UEFA Cup (struggling in the league but moving through European competition.) If not, we can be thankful those 2001 files have been uploaded. Take care.
