The Klan wants to "help" them

Im indifferent on this issue, the club is private and has its say on how to conduct busniess but if they want to be the least bit progressive theyd admit women. BUT this is rediclious...and only tarnishes the name of the club even more.

Jesse Jackson, Martha Burke, and now the Klan. Great. The Masters was a fun tourney to watch on the boob tube and now it's turning into a freaking circus.

Next thing you know the Nike Shox guy will run across the 18th green as Tiger and Hefty are lining up their putts.

Martha Burke's been playing Augusta like a violin since this thing started and it just continues. When the KKK signs up to support your position, you've lost.

    But right on cue...

I saw Jesse Jackson last night on Crossfire, he claimed that the "Masters" is named after "Slave Masters".

The club is the Augusta National Club. The tourney wasn't named "The Masters" until 100 years after the Civil War, his claims are completely untrue...

"We're tired of poor, white trash calling themselves the Ku Klux Klan and the negative image the Ku Klux Klan is getting.''

This had me falling off my chair with laughter.

Wow. I'm surprised to hear this coming from them. I guess I've always figured they knew they weren't very popular and stood their ground without any concern for that. What I'm reading here suggests that they think the socioeconomic level of the messenger is the source of their pariah status with the center and left, rather than the message itself. Uhhh...guys... it's the views.

Well, they are right, sort of. The Klan has image problems even within the white supremacist community because they are considered outdated and ineffective, and the bedsheet ensemble doesn't exactly scream credibility.

They're looking to go younger and more upscale, but with very little success. And I guess anything to get themselves in the news helps.
