At least the article says he's an Under-18. http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/preps/20030114-9999_1s14p-preptu.html Ultimate goal is EPL. Nice to see his sights are set high.
i read the article yesterday at lunch, i almost fell out of my chair when he mentioned at the end i think it was something about the EPL being the standard for world soccer. top 3, yeah, but i mean, come on, how good can the kid really be if he doesn't recognize spain as having the highest quality football? since i live in poway, i'll go watch him play and give you all my impressions of him, if you like. i kinda feel sorry for him though: i played varsity for poway in '99 (after moving from oklahoma) under bob champ, and the guy doesn't know beans about soccer. i mean, literally, the kids basically coach themselves, and he just sets the line up and makes the subs. we would be having practice and he would just wander off and be inspecting the fence or something like that. it's amazing poway usually puts a good team on the field, and this year they're even ranked no. 2 in the county! i suppose that's attributable more to the fact of the affluence of the city (and thus, being affluent, having a couple nomads and surf players, and to a lesser extent pegasus players). that's why i think serious kids should forego high school ball and just concentrate on club ball, it's just so much better and more concentrated competitively. oh well, i suppose this is the rantings of a bitter washed up guy who had to go into early retirement after high school but yeah, i'll post a little scouting on dalby if you like
The kid's going to have to be good to receive offers high enough to bolt Notre Dame early. Either one isn't very likely.
