From Fox Sports - just posted....I haven't even read it, but thought you all would appreciate it. http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/5062788
That's a very good article, describing just how much hard work goes in behind the scenes in English refereeing to get our referees fit and perform to a high standard. Unfortunately that means it is a ruthless game. No fewer than 5 referees have been suspended of late for various offences from breach of contract to 'failing to proficiently apply the laws of the game'. However, it does go to show that with a lot of time, effort, and money ploughed into the game, you will get the benefits, as IMO, and it is biased, we have the most professional and the best overall referees in the world. It's also weird to see RTR stats used as a tool for analysing referees though, given I moderate on that site.
